The future of Malaysia’s fashion education will be defined by how closely it moves with industry.

MyFashionChamber met with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Division to align the fashion sector within TVET.

The industry is evolving fast. Expectations are higher. Industry readiness is now the baseline.

This is not only about students. It is also about lecturers staying connected to real world practice across studios, production floors, and retail spaces.

The goal is clear. Strengthen the bridge between classroom learning and industry, so Malaysia’s fashion talent is competitive, capable, and future ready.

Why Indonesia?

Because Indonesia is one of Southeast Asia’s strongest textile and garment manufacturing hubs, with depth across fabrics, production capabilities, machinery, and competitive price points.

At Indo Intertex 2026, buyers, designers, and fashion SMEs get direct access to regional suppliers, manufacturers, and technology partners you don’t usually meet locally, all in one place.

This is about expanding sourcing options, comparing suppliers side by side, and making smarter business decisions that support growth.

MyFashionChamber is coordinating a Malaysian delegation for members who are ready to explore beyond the usual routes.

Real conversations matter.

Today’s SME Focus Group Discussion at Sunway University, organised by the Sunway Institute for Global Strategy and Competitiveness (IGSC), went beyond theory and tick boxes.

SMEs from different industries shared candidly about the real pressures and gaps they face in sustainability practices and reporting.

MyFashionChamber was glad to be invited to contribute, bringing in the fashion SME perspective where complex supply chains, limited resources and growing expectations often collide.

This kind of dialogue is crucial. If we want sustainability to work, it has to be shaped by the realities of SMEs who are part of larger ecosystems, not designed in isolation.

Grateful for the openness, the exchange and the shared intent to move the conversation forward.

Day 1 in India.
We began the day at IIGF 2026. The scale of the fair is massive! We only managed to explore less than half of the hall. Day 2, we’ll explore more.

In the afternoon, we had a courtesy meeting at the High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi, with H.E. Dato’ Muzafar Shah, Ms Shamilah (Minister, Economic Affairs), Mr Jonanif (Director of Tourism Malaysia) and Mr Zaidi (First Secretary, Economic Affairs).

This is what MyFashionChamber does. Bridging industry, government, institutions, & connecting Malaysian fashion businesses to global sourcing & trade ecosystems.

These linkages matter because fashion today is not just about design, but access, partnerships, and market readiness.

Trade matters for Malaysian fashion.

On 27 January 2026, MATRADE will be sharing Malaysia’s Trade Performance 2025 and the outlook for 2026.

For Malaysian fashion brands, designers, and creative businesses, this session is about understanding where our country is heading, how global markets are shifting, and how our industry fits into Malaysia’s trade direction.

If you are building a Malaysian brand with global ambition, this is a conversation worth paying attention to.

Recent engagements across partnerships, platforms, education, and international exchange.

Programme discussions with our strategic partner Halal Korea, conversations with a fashion institution on education and industry alignment, engagements with industry platforms, as well as discussions with Chamber’s education team, and welcoming international designers to experience Malaysia’s local fashion and creative scene.

These ongoing discussions form part of MyFashionChamber’s continued work across the fashion ecosystem.

MyFashionChamber was pleased to participate in ‘Refashioning the Future’, an industry roundtable that brought together representatives from across the fashion ecosystem.

As part of our ongoing role in advocating for a more sustainable, inclusive, and future ready fashion industry, we actively contributed to discussions on technology, culture, and inclusivity. The dialogue reinforced the importance of coordinated leadership and cross sector collaboration in addressing the challenges of scaling slow fashion in the region.

Thank you for initiating this meaningful cross sector dialogue, and appreciation to guest speaker for her thoughtful insights that helped frame the conversation.
