Forgiveness is hard — not just because of what they did, but because of what it cost you to survive it.

Sometimes the only thing left from the pain is the pain itself. And when you’re asked to let it go, a part of you whispers: But then who will remember what I went through?
Who will know how deeply I was hurt?
Who will see how hard it was to get back up again?

And in those moments, forgiveness can feel like erasure. Like silence. Like standing alone in a story no one ever fully understood.

But here’s the truth: You were never unseen.
Allah saw it all — every tear, every silent scream, every quiet act of strength.

Even when the world forgets your ache — He does not.

And that is enough.

We think forgiveness is something we give to the person who hurt us.
But it’s not.

Forgiveness is the moment we stop handing our power
to what broke us.
It’s the quiet choice to stop circling the same wound.

Not because they deserve release.
But because we do.
Because we are tired of carrying pain that’s long outlived its purpose.

Forgiveness isn’t pretending it didn’t hurt.
It’s knowing it did —
and choosing not to let it shape who we become.

✨ This reflection is just one of many pages born from a heart that’s been there.

That questioned. That is still hurting. That is healing. That still chooses to rise.

In the process of healing, must we forgive?

Our prayers still tremble, tongue tied, heart still bleeds.

The ache of being hurt.
The heaviness of remembering.
The quiet injustice that no one else sees but Allah.

Some wounds don’t heal quickly.
And forgiveness…
doesn’t always come wrapped in clarity.
But it might begin in surrender.

Alas, every time I peek at the mirror,
my heart trembles a bit.
What will I see?
What will I find glancing back at me?

There are moments and times that it is so hard to feel the joy of loving myself, and to convince myself that I am loved by others. Because I am imperfect in many ways, broken through many cracks, and flawed by the many wounds and scars.
So sometimes it hurts to take a glimpse of what's looking back at me when I peek at the reflection I see.
But I am loved, right?
And for that I'd learn to love.
Even if it takes eternity, I'd put all the efforts to learn to love.
Because I am loved by Him.
And His love is forever.
insyaAllah.
