There are so many beautiful interpretations of the qipao today — some rich in embellishment, some bold in detail. It’s always inspiring to see how the piece continues to evolve.

For us, we’ve come to appreciate a quieter kind of expression.

Jane’s champagne cheongsam is guided by our signature embroidery placement — designed to follow her form, to enhance rather than compete. We focus on proportion, balance, and how each detail sits on the body.

A red qipao, made with care.
These past few days have been a bit heavy,
but coming back to the work reminds me why I do this.
Shermaine was planning everything from afar — not easy at all, especially for a wedding.
We did the planning and measurements beforehand, which really helped make things smoother.
We only met the week before, to fit everything properly and get it ready in time.
Somehow, it all worked out.
Because when the work is sincere, and the quality is there — it speaks for itself. ❤️

A recent experience in our studio left me reflecting.
In a line of work built on trust, we sometimes move with care and flexibility — especially when it comes to meaningful milestones.
This time, payment receipts were shared and pieces were released, but the funds had not actually been received.
With limited information and no response despite multiple attempts to reach out, it became a situation filled with uncertainty.
The matter has since been resolved, but it was a sobering reminder.
A receipt is not confirmation. Only cleared funds are.
Moving forward, this is a boundary we will hold firmly.
Sharing this quietly, in case it helps someone else protect their work too.

A qipao isn’t only reserved for weddings.
It can also mark milestones of a different kind.
This piece was made for Sara’s PhD graduation —
designed to sit neatly under her robe, and to be worn again after. A way to hold both her heritage and her achievement in one piece.

Her only request was for butterflies in the appliqué.🦋
In psychology, butterflies are often used as a symbol of transformation —a reflection of growth, change, and becoming.
It felt especially fitting for this chapter. Not just for the ceremony,but for everything it represents beyond it.

There are many parts to this work.

Some people see the final piece,
some notice the handwork.🧵
But there is also everything in between.

Today, it looks like paperwork.
Quiet, repetitive, easy to overlook.
But this is where details are kept in place —
from consultation notes, to measurements, to how each cut is carried through.

but it’s what ensures the work remains consistent, thoughtful, and on time.
