MESSAGE:
If you read through the book of Acts, you will find out that the apostles were persecuted by the authorities for preaching in the name of Jesus. Rather than listen to the government, they preached Christ with even more boldness such that the whole of Jerusalem and its environs heard about Jesus (Acts 5:28). In the world today, there are spirits that are working tirelessly against the preaching of the Gospel. However, they are not a limitation, because we have already overcome them.
As a child of God, you should not be afraid to preach the gospel. Do not preach the word like you are not sure of what you are saying; study the Bible and be bold. Beloved, take note of Paul’s love and passion for Christ and the gospel as we read in today’s Bible reading. This glorious gospel that has been committed to you is worth everything; therefore, preach it boldly everywhere you go. Jesus is coming soon, and He is coming with rewards for those who preach the gospel.

PRAYER POINT
Father, please help me to preach and proclaim the gospel of truth boldly.

MESSAGE:
Humility refers to being free from pride or arrogance. Proverbs 3:34 says that God’s grace will be extended to those who are humble before Him. In other words, God gives the humble the ability to achieve great feats. James 4:6 also says that God resists the proud. Have you ever read the story of the Pharaoh who refused to allow the Israelites to leave Egypt? If you have, you will know that it is a terrible thing to be resisted by God. Such a fellow can never prosper, and I’m sure that you want to prosper. In the name that is above every other name, you will prosper.
Beloved, the more humble you are, the more you will rise. You will become God’s favourite when you humble yourself and fear Him enough to obey all that He says. Once you have the fear of God in you, He will bless you with all that you need to get to the top. Arrogance brings destruction, and it is an attribute of the devil. By the mercies of God, you will not be destroyed, in Jesus’ name. However, you must be humble.

REFLECTION:
Can God give you a pat on the back for a job well done in your present responsibility?

18. And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

MESSAGE:
Appreciation has to with speaking well of someone or letting them know how good they are. Flattery, on the other hand, is exaggerated appreciation. For example, when someone says that a lady is beautiful, that is a simple compliment. However, when such a person goes further to say that she is the most beautiful girl in the whole world and that she is his ride or die because, without her, he would not be able to breathe, that is flattery. Likewise, if a girl says that a man is the most powerful man in the world and that he has the strength of a thousand men, just know that she is lying.
Jesus, who is all in all, did not encourage flattery. When a disciple called Him good, He said, “Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God.” He didn’t draw unnecessary attention to Himself; rather, He redirected the attention of the fellow who called Him good to God. As much as possible, avoid people who exaggerate or who are quick to shower accolades on you so that you don’t get easily distracted.

Flatterers are deceptive; run from them.

1. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

MESSAGE:
Our God is the most high, the Creator and Ruler of all. The name El-Elyon means that God is the only true, powerful God. To the children of Israel, He showed his powerful act when He parted the Red Sea, and for the disciples, He calmed the storm. These, among many miracles, make me adore and revere God. Therefore, when I think of Him as El-Elyon, my heart leaps for joy because He already promised, in today’s Bible reading, that there is safety under His shadow. This is why I am assured that no evil can come near me.
As El-Elyon, God cannot stand being compared with other ‘gods’. He is so jealous that when He is your God, nothing and no one should compete with Him in your life. Therefore, you must be careful not to erect idols in your heart or around you so as not to infuriate Him. He must be the God Most High over everything: your academics, career, finance, job, family, et cetera. I implore you to ask God to search your heart like David prayed in Psalm 139:23-24. Ask Him to remove all idols in your life for Him to be your El-Elyon.

35. It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there.

MESSAGE:
God created the garden of Eden, where He established a fellowship with Adam and Eve (Genesis 2). Man was constantly in touch with God, and he had nothing to worry about because of the manifest presence of God. However, when sin entered, it caused a separation. Thankfully, the birth of Jesus has reconciled us back to God.
As we reflect on His name, Jehovah Shammah, I have realized that God never wants to be the God ‘over there’; rather, he wants to be the God ‘here’. He is not distant, removed, or withdrawn; He is personal and intimate. He desires a cordial relationship with every one of us and wants us to know His presence for eternity. No wonder He said in ..............… Isaiah 1:18:
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
My dear child, no matter what happens, be confident that Jehovah Shammah is always here, there, and everywhere with you. You can trust that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

MESSAGE
I used to be afflicted with malaria, and I depended so much on pharmaceutical drugs until I had an encounter with ‘Jehovah Rapha’. Jehovah Rapha means ‘The God who heals.’ Today, by the grace of God, I have been living in divine health for many years. God wants you to live in good health so that you can serve Him wholeheartedly. Even if you fall sick, he wants to cure your entire being, including your heart, soul, body, mind, and spirit. However, you must note that while some persons receive instant healing, others receive their healing gradually.
It is true that God heals, and it is also true that He may choose not to heal a fellow. A person may sincerely pray and truly have faith that God can heal him or her. However, if it is not God’s will to provide the healing at that time, then no healing will occur (1 John 5:14). Do you need healing for yourself, your relative, your classmate, or anyone else? God wants you to ask Him in faith. Some sicknesses are attacks from the devil, and they must be fought, while some are trials that lead to victory.

By the stripes of Jesus, you were healed.

9. Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10. Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

MESSAGE:
The children of God are called the sons of God, irrespective of their gender. A true son recognizes the voice of his father and imitates him. True sons are heirs of their father, and as such, they care about their father’s business.
A responsible biological son of a businessman would not watch his father’s business crumble. Unfortunately, a lot of sons in the kingdom stand by and watch souls perish. Jesus said in John 9:4, “I must work the works of Him who sent me while it is day.” He also said that his meat is to do the will of His father – to win souls (John 4:34). How many souls have you won for God?
Some sons of God go to their places of worship and complain about everything. They refuse to join the workforce; rather, they prefer to watch others serve their Father. No true son would do this. It is time to prove that you are a true son of your Father. Serve Him while you still can, and watch Him pamper you like a proud Father.

Are you a true son of God?

MESSAGE:
Your name is a maker, it reflects your talent or your identity, that is, who you are and where you belong. Your name is significant, and you will carry it with you throughout your lifetime. Do you know that the name you were given by your parents or the one you have taken on yourself is capable of shaping your destiny? I have discovered that some names can limit those that bear them. For example, in the Bible, Jacob means ‘supplanter’ – a person who cheats, and this played out in his life. Likewise, Jabez means sorrow, and until he cried to God, his life was sorrowful.
Your name is very important. This is the reason you should ask for the meaning of your name, so that if the meaning is not good, you can, with the permission of your parents, choose a new one that will align you with a glorious destiny. Likewise, the nicknames or pet names you answer to matter a lot. Don’t allow your friends to call you bad names like killer, scorpion, bad guy, et cetera.
After I gave my life to Christ and got baptised by immersion, I became particular about the names people call me. My friends used to call me ‘Adesco’. However, I insisted on being called ‘Enoch’ after my conversion.

KEY POINT:
The name you are called and what you answer to can influence your destiny.
