Wonders, they say, will never end.
And stories like this are the kind that make many single ladies afraid of settling down.
According to a story that has been circulating online, a woman was kidnapped… and the events that followed left many people shocked.
Here is what was reported.
The husband had travelled abroad and left two cars with his wife in Nigeria. He told her clearly to drive one and not to drive the bigger jeep-like car.
For a long time, the wife obeyed him.
But one day she decided to use the bigger car just for a friend’s birthday outing. Just that one day.
Unfortunately, on her way back from the birthday, she was kidnapped.
The kidnappers contacted the husband and demanded ransom. At first, he refused to pay.
The woman reportedly stayed in captivity for about two weeks, until the husband eventually paid ₦5 million after much pleading.
She was finally released.
But instead of relief and gratitude that his wife returned alive…
The husband said he was no longer interested in the marriage.
When the wife’s family asked why, his reason was shocking. He said she disobeyed him by driving the car he told her not to drive. He also said he could not stop thinking that the kidnappers might have assaulted her, and because she is very beautiful, the thought kept disturbing him.
Just like that… the marriage ended.
Reading this left me with many questions.
Was it her fault that she became a victim of kidnapping?
Was it her fault that criminals chose her that day?
Was it her fault that she is beautiful?
Marriage vows say “for better, for worse.”
But when the “worse” came, he ran away.
This story reminds us of something very important.
If you know in your heart that you cannot stand by your partner through difficult seasons, please do not rush into marriage.
Marriage is not just about the good days.
It is a journey filled with tests, trials, and unexpected storms. It takes God, commitment, love, patience, and humanity to overcome the challenges that come with it.
So before saying “Yes, I do,” take time to truly know your partner.
Watch for red flags.
Pray about your relationship.
Commit your talking stage into God’s hands.
And never allow yourself to be completely blinded by emotions.
Do the needful.
Today I pray that the Lord Jesus will keep and strengthen every marriage going through challenges. May God bring peace, understanding, and love into every home.
Amen.
As always…
On God we move. 🙏✨
