Guys 😂😂 I’ve been reading some of the comments from my last post and honestly… what are you people even saying? 😭😂

A lot of you missed the assignment! The “What I wanted vs What I made” picture was simply to show my fellow sewmates the style I recreated and inspire someone to try it out too. It was NOT a “compare my body to the model” competition. 😂

And please, let’s not start with my shape o! 😂 This is my 100% natural body….no waist trainer, no corset, no enhancement, no over-editing, nothing! And for my size, abeg, I’m doing just fine! 😂💅🏽

Anyway, I saw the comments and just laughed because… what exactly are we arguing about? 😭😂

This is exactly what I mean when I say start with what you have. 🥹❤️

Imagine learning how to sew from YouTube just because you were bored, and months later, making your own convocation dress. 😭👏🏽

Sometimes the resource you need to move forward is already within your reach…….you just have to be willing to learn, practise and keep showing up.

And this is why I’ll always encourage fashion designers to invest in their skills, even when the money isn’t there yet. You don’t need the biggest studio, the latest machine or all the fancy tools to become better.

Learn with what you have now. Upgrade as you grow.

You never know where that small step will take you. 🤎🧵✨

Show up with what you have. 🌱

You don’t always have to wait until you have the money, the perfect equipment, the perfect space or all the resources you think you need before you start becoming better.

Sometimes, you just have to start with what is available to you.

Especially to my fellow fashion designers: don’t let lack of resources stop you from upgrading your skills. Learn from wherever you can. Practise. Try new techniques. Watch tutorials. Improve your finishing. Study other people’s work. Use the tools you have now, while you work towards getting the tools you want later.

I’m a product of learning with what I had. I learned a lot of sewing techniques from YouTube, and honestly, YouTube contributed so much to my growth as a fashion designer.

And that is one of the reasons I also share free sewing tutorials on YouTube today. If something helped me grow, I want it to help someone else too.

I’m still learning myself. We’re all growing. So let’s keep showing up, keep learning and keep getting better…..one step at a time. 🤎

Don’t wait until everything is perfect. Start with what you have.
