Do you have issue converting cm to inches and inches to cm. Here is a simple formula to help you out. Especially when you are not with measuring tape.

CM - INCHES = Divide the figure by 2.54
INCHES - CM= Multiply the figure by 2.54

88cm to inches = 88/2.54= 34.65
40" to cm = 34.65x 2.54= 101.6cm

SEWING TIPS FOR NEWBIES
Are u planning to learn sewing or you are beginning to learn already, these tips are for you.
1. Good sewing machine: start off your learning with a good sewing machine. there is nothing more discouraging than to learn sewing with a bad machine( it kills morale). Also make sure u avoid complex machine for a start. go for a good machine that u can easily operate as a learner or newbie.

2. take a sewing class and buy yourself a beginner book.

3. Start small: it is more fun to start sewing with something simple like dartless top, free gown and the likes rather than wanting to sew a complex design that might end up making you to be discourage.

4. Practice: practice makes perfect they say" this is also applicable to sewing. the more you practice the more good you become as somethings that seems difficult at the beginning will get easier as u practice.
