10 THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE SENDING YOUR CLOTHING ORDER TO A MANUFACTURER

Starting a clothing brand or producing garments? Don’t rush into sending money to a manufacturer without getting these things clear first.

1. Know exactly what you want to produce
Be clear about the type of garment you want—T-shirt, hoodie, joggers, jackets, etc.

2. Have your design ready
Provide a clear design, reference image, tech pack, or detailed explanation of what you want.

3. Confirm your quantity
Know the exact number of pieces you want to produce and your size breakdown.

4. Choose the right fabric
Fabric affects the quality, comfort, durability and final appearance of your garment.

5. Be clear about your measurements and sizing
Don’t assume every manufacturer uses the same sizing standard. Confirm your size chart.

6. Discuss printing or branding requirements
Be specific about whether you need screen printing, DTF, embroidery, labels, neck tags, or other branding.

7. Ask about samples
When possible, approve a sample before proceeding with bulk production.

8. Agree on the price and payment terms
Understand exactly what the quoted price covers before production begins.
