Where's your First Aid Box?

It's recommended that every home have a fully kitted First Aid Box incase of simple medical emergencies, in order to contain such before proper medical help comes.

I would advise every mother or home keeper to have a Sewing Kit in case of sewing emergencies. Hahaha 😁!!!

Yes, a button that has come out of it's place, a small seam loosened on the side of the gown, a little tear under the trouser: these are minor sewing alterations that can be temporarily fixed at home before taking them to a tailor for proper amendment.

A simple sewing kit should contain: Hand needles (different sizes), sewing threads(different colors especially neutral colors like black white brown),buttons, zips, seam ripper or a blunt blade, scissors,tailors' tape, office pins/dress maker's pins, hooks and snaps, safety pins.
These items are very cheap and can be easily sourced.

WHY YOUR ZIPS DON'T LAST
Has a worn zipper ever embarrassed you? Or you probably were disappointed and couldn't rock that gorgeous outfit to that occasion as you had fantasized because the zip just got bad?

It definitely has to be a cheap, fake, substandard zipper, right???

The answer is NO! NO!!

The longevity of a Zipper is not only determined by quality but by it's end user: You. YES you.

There are few tips that will make your zipper almost never fail.

1. Keep your clothes dry; store away from damp/ humid areas. This will prevent the zipper head and metal teeth from rusting.
2. Before you zip up, try to ensure there's nothing in the zip's path e.g paper, fabric especially thread. Check for any tiny bit of thread that might have pulled off close to the zip teeth.
3. As much as possible keep your clothes neatly stored: ironed and properly folded or hung. That way your dress and zipper teeth is straightened and you don't have to struggle with it when putting it on.
4. Most importantly, don't be in a Rush. As much as possible, plan enough time to dress up. Zip up gently and carefully, if you notice any resistance or difficulty, zip down and try again. If its still the same, please pull off your dress and check what the obstruction is and try again. Avoid the temptation of forcefully zipping up.
5. Incase you have added some flesh and your dress has become tight for you, Aunty take it to your tailor for amendment first or dash it out(stop suffering the innocent zip o). Better still make a new one. Sebi that's why people like us are here for you.
