Hi, my name is Joy, owner of the brand, Bellajaycollections. I thought long and hard about how 2023 has been a roller coaster. The joy, the pain, the small happy dance, the good and the bad times. As we approach a new year in a few days, In the following paragraphs I’d be sharing my story, a story of a young girl trying to be better. The truth is I started this year with a lot of What ifs. In all this I still wanted to be better in my business. #2023
I’m grateful for my brand, starting a business from ground up without much support is not easy. I’m sure a lot of entrepreneurs can relate. This year, I had my first students, I was also able to do maintenance at the shop, tried ready to wear and sold out most of my designs. I did those small happy dance. My adorable friend that’s a sister from another mother registered me for the best business class that’s one of it’s kind, with a great coach . This class which has been an eye opener is one of the best thing that happened to me and my business.
“The secret tears”
After I started the business, I wasn’t having much walk-in customers as I had previously left for NYSC. By the time I got back, I had lost most clients because of my in availability.A very close relative called to ask if that was what I wanted to do with my life (fashion designing). That it’s better I close up and look for a proper job because according to her I was jobless. Thank God I didn’t listen to naysayers.I almost got depressed at some point, almost gave up on my dreams. I had financial constraints but God showed up for me. I encounter some losses in my ready to wear business because I had sold below my happy price but with every loss I made, I became better at pricing which was a major challenge for me. #2023
I did not only work hard, I worked smart. I’m doing what I love and the money is an icing on the cake.
