Consistency reduces imperfections
How do you feel when you do something and it doesn't come out how you want it to be?
Leave it like that? Or start all over again?
As a designer you can decide to leave it like that, but you stand the risk of losing customers, as the person whose cloth was spoilt will not hesitate to tell any body that cares to know how you ended up spoiling his or her cloth.
The same applies for when you make a good outfit, the person will just go about telling people about you, and how good you are.
As at last year I was still struggling with my fitting game, when a client comes for fitting (testing a finished cloth) I'll have to lose and sew and lose, till we both will become frustrated.
Sometimes I'll just sit and cry after the client has left, but still nothing changed the cycle only continue, to the extend I thought losing cloth and adjusting is a normal thing.
Late year I stumbled on an online course perfecting your fitting and finishing, I decided to paid for the course and I started class immediately, gradually I was learning how to sew and have a perfect fit.
I made this gown early this year, This was one of the first gowns I made without adjustment, the client was shocked so was I too.
She was like bethel this gown we didn't do the normal adjustment and it fit well, I smiled (I've done my home work what else do you expect)
The fact you are not getting it right does not mean you should stop, keep pushing, keep learning, trust me you too can do it, just don't stop now.
Am still a work in progress, am not there yet, but I know I've gone very far
Note: every other detail on the gown was as specified by the client.
