One of those days where you finally figure something out right after taking the hardest possible route to get there 🫠
The flower is finally standing without bending, so now it’s really just the stand and mounting system that’s causing the lean. As soon as I sprayed the last layer of foam, a fellow Maker, Antonio, showed me a much simpler way to achieve the same result. He also helped me make the decision to cast the piece in concrete so it’ll hold up better outdoors and be more weather-resistant long term.
Part of me wishes I knew all of this two weeks ago, but honestly that’s just part of the process.
The good news is I feel like I’ve worked through most of the learning curves now. The next flower should go much smoother, and I finally have a solid step-by-step process to follow.
Now I can start working on the main installation for the event, which is the piece I’m most excited about. The clothing samples should be arriving soon too, and somehow we’re already down to about a month left 😅🥸
