Our Fabric Manipulation practical

We learnt four different fabric manipulation techniques in class, and for their practical, I asked my young designers to use what they had learnt to create their own designs.

I really enjoyed seeing different ideas they came up with. Everyone approached the task differently, and honestly, that’s what makes practicing classes interesting..

It may not look perfect, but that’s what learning and practicing is all about..

Dart manipulation in progress!!!!!!!

Moving fullness without changing fit is one of the most powerful patternmaking skills.

This design started as a basic bodice block, now I’m redistributing the dart to create style lines while keeping the original fit intact .

A lot of people think darts are just random lines, but they control shapes.

Same measurements.
Different design.
More intention..
