Not everyone in the Okrika business sells the same way. Today I want to explain the difference between retail and wholesale because your strategy depends entirely on which one you are.
In retail selling, you sell piece by piece to end consumers. A customer comes, picks a shirt, pays and leaves. Higher price per piece. More time. More customer interaction. Better for small stock.
In wholesale selling, you sell in bulk to market sellers, boutiques, other traders. One buyer takes 20, 50, or 100 pieces at once. Lower price per piece. Faster movement. Less customer management. Requires more stock.
Which is better?
Neither is better. They serve different business models.
If you have small capital, start retail. Sell piece by piece and reinvest profit.
If you have larger capital and want faster turnover, wholesale moves stock quickly but your margin per piece is smaller.
Some sellers do both, they retail from their own stall and wholesale their leftovers at the end of the week.
Which model are you using or planning to use? Let me know in the comments!
