‎It’s your pillowcase. I didn’t always think much about pillowcases either. But after spending years handling laundry for people, I’ve learnt something simple: Something can look clean and still need cleaning. Think about your pillowcase for a second.

‎Every night, your face, hair and skin rest on it for hours. While you sleep, it can pick up sweat, body oils, dirt, hair products, skincare residue and microorganisms from normal skin contact. But here’s what I find interesting.

Before you pour bleach on that stain, read this.

‎When I first started my laundry business, I believed bleach was the answer to almost every stubborn stain. If a stain refuses to go out after washing with detergent, the next thought that comes to my mind is "Try a little bleach." At that time, it may seem reasonable, but for a while, I never question that believe.

As time goes by, experience begins to teach me a different lessons that assumption can never. Those lessons came from mistakes, careful observations, constant readjustment, asking better questions, and by continuous learning about the anatomy of laundry and dry cleaning, during that process, here's what I have discover, that has completely change the way I care for clothes now.

‎I realize that bleach isn't the only solution to every stain. It's simply one of the item among many. When it's use correctly, on the right fabric and for the right purpose, bleach can be very effective. But when it's use without understanding the garment, or following the care-label instructions, it can create a new problem instead of solving the old one.

‎Those lessons taught me something much bigger than how to use bleach. It taught me that good garment care, begins with understanding before action. Now, whenever I come across any stain, I don't rush, or panic. I slow down and ask myself four simple questions before deciding what to do. The biggest laundry mistake isn't using the wrong detergent, it's forgetting that your washing machine needs cleaning too.

‎Have you ever finish washing your clothes or your customer's clothes, only to wonder why they don't smell as fresh as you expected?

‎Most of us would blame the detergent. I used to do the-same earlier-on.
‎
‎But one thing I've learnt from personal experience, and studying laundry and fabric care is that clean clothes don't depend only on the detergent you use, but on how well the washing machine looks after washing.
‎
‎At first, that might sound surprising, but after all, if the machine washes your clothes, your expectation is shouldn't it clean itself too? not always so.
‎
‎With every wash, tiny amounts of detergent, fabric softener, body oils, lint, minerals from water, and moisture can be left behind inside the machine. Over time, that buildup can create the right conditions for mold, mildew, and odor-causing bacteria to grow. When that happens, your clothes may come out smelling less fresh than they should.
