Dear Fashion designers

In all your dealings with your customers ,always collect advance and also collect your balance at the end of each work .

One thing that kill our Sewing business is debt from customers.

Be structured, organised, and always make it known to them politely that you don't give out sewed cloths on debt .

As far as they have done the fitting,loved your work and you never disappointed them,they too should play their role by paying up the balance .

Don't be weak at heart and allow them play or weaken your emotions with their words .

You'll hear words like ;
Remember how I encourage you never to give up
Remember say I'm your very good friend oh
Remember I'm your very good brother or sis
Remember say things never balance ,when e balance I go send u your balance
No worry oh,I go wear this cloth go that show and bring plenty customers for u(some actually bring Shaa but not all)
Why you dey do like this na ,na today you know me ?
Na wa to you oh,this small balance NAI you no fit gree ..
๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿปthese words and other can actually weaken the heart Shaa..so you need to be strong and explain your reasons and also rules guiding your shop .

What ever reason they have to owe you should be well deserved

Business is business and it's based on money

Family and friends is based on love .

Remember,we all need money to plan,grow,and invest in our sewing business and you cant achieve them if your sewing business is running on debt constantly.

It is a killer of growth and plans .

So always do well to inform your customers that once you are done and they've done the fitting and love the work
You've done your own part so they too should do their own part by paying the balance

If they know the value of the cloth they wanna use should give them more reason to always pay at the end of each work.

Remember,we are in this fashion business to make money and grow and invest more .

Anything aside this is slavery in disguise.

Dear Tailors trying to rent a shop

One thing killing most fashion designers is going for a shop bigger than their annual income.

How can you hustle hard, stay awake, stress yourself and use all to meet up shop rent?

Their is nothing as discouraging, heartbreaking, annoying and frustrating when you are working so hard with all effort for two to three years or more and when you look back, their is nothing to show for it.
This can be so annoying that you feel like giving up.

So before you think of going for a shop or a bigger shop, ask yourself

What are my monthly sales goals/target in line with my monthly shop rent times 12... Can it cover up my shop and I'll still be left with profit?

How large is my customer base?

How good is my pricing skill?

Do I have good value conscious customers?

What plans will I put in place to get more value conscious customers?

How good is marketing strategies to acquire more customers?

What else can I do or add to my sewing business to cover up my shop rent if in case my sewing is not meeting up?

๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿป these questions and more are very important to consider

One thing, please, do not compete with your next door fashion designer simply because you guys are in the same street or environment, you never can tell the unfair advantage they have over you

Unfair advantage like;
They might be connected to bigger personalities that you are not and that can bring more work they'll want to share with you (note:they'll share with u if u are very good and have good standing)

They might know one or two things u don't know that might help your sewing business

They must have gained experience which in turn has helped them to grow, so learning from them will make it easier for you.

And many more

Please note:not all humans have good intentions toward you, so use discernment always.
