IT'S TIME TO LEARN WITH ABELIAH AGAIN,LET'S LEARN TOGETHER

So far,we've learned how haute couture designer,luxury designer and ready to wear designer operate. Once again,thank you for staying tuned,I hope learnt something?
In the light of this,let's go straight to the last two which are fast fashion and economy fashion.

Fast fashion: you are most likely to have heard about fast fashion,designed for the majority of mass,fast fashion brings trendy and low-cost fashion that is affordable for all. These are companies that are inspired by couture and luxury fashion and replicate them for the mass majority in lesser time frame and bring them to the market. I guess our Aba brethren also comes to mind when you read this😁😁😁,thank God I am not the only one 😉.

Economy fashion: the best way to remember the characteristics of economic fashion is to understand how it needs to be economical. In this type of fashion,garments are mass produced efficiently and inexpensively. The cheapest available labour and material is used to make increasing profits.
Economy fashion targets even lower value than fast fashion in the context of quality and price. You can identify them as the local shop around you,most of them are not branded.

This is you learning about the type of fashion designer that we have so as not to get what you didn't order for and also to know the difference whenever you go to any designer and you see there works. DON'T FALL VICTIM OF YOUR IGNORANCE,LET'S LEARN TOGETHER

Hello my people,it been two days,hope you learn something new over the weekend? And hope our last post was helpful?
I know you will be wondering that how will learning about the types of fashion designer help me with my clothes or help me with my choice,don't you worry too much,we are getting there gradually. Don't forget to always leave a comment or two if you learn anything or have any questions.

So,today we are learning about and -to-wear,let's go there.

LUXURY FASHION: you might have seen luxury fashion being used interchangeably with Haute couture,but let's make sure you don't make same mistake,while luxury fashion also serves a high-end clientele,it's also serves high-quality garments but not as restricted as haute couture.
However,the fact remains that the fabrics and designs serves one-of-a-kind customers and hence are restricted in their availability base on these factors:
* pricey/expensive materials
* intricate/well detailed designs
* high-quality garments
* slow-production(because of the details on the cloth,it takes a lot of time to produce .
Another thing that differentiate them from haute couture fashion is that they're not solely handmade and are produced in large quantities to some extent,hence,makes them less exclusive and less expensive than haute couture fashion. Examples of luxury designers: Gucci,Prada,Rolex,Prada,Tiffany,Armani and in Nigeria we have

READY-TO-WEAR DESIGNERS: also known as pret-a-porter designers mostly target apparel designs for a large audience than luxury fashion,while they get to do innovative cuts and silhouette and create a presentation for the wearer,the garments are designed in a way where all the customers requirements are being catered for without doing any alterations. They have more customers than luxury designers but much fewer than the mass market. Examples of ready-to-wear designers in Nigeria: ,,LADY BIBA .

YES! I AM BACK FOR OUR LEARN WITH ABELIAH

I purposely gave us a little time to do our personal research just because we are going to be learning together so as to make this interactive.

Before I continue,let me use this medium to say a very big thank you to everyone that took their time to read my last post and are ready to learn with me,thank you so much.I asked a question in my last post,and I felt there should be gift for the person that participate most,so as from now I will be watching...

Now to the business of the day, primarily,there are five (5) types of fashion design,which are:
1. Haute couture
2. Luxury fashion
3. Ready-to-wear fashion
4. Economy fashion
5. Fast fashion.
So,now you know,right?

I will be taking us through them one by one,so we start with the oga patapata of them all,Haute couture.

Haute couture fashion which is also called high class fashion is the highest on the hierarchy of fashion design categories. Haute couture designers mostly make customized exclusive designs for comparatively wealthier clients (people wey always get red carpet events and high class events sah) according to their events. It involves custom-fitted fashion and accessories. The fashion outfits made are mostly from start to finish,based on the highest and finest quality and they are hand-crafted.

Haute couture designers serves high-end and unique clothing designs,this implicates the creation of art in the form of limited edition apperal and accessories. And as a personal designer to the high-class,they also serves as stylist to their clients.

Examples of haute couture designers: Dior,Chanel,Givenchy,Balmain,Valentino...

THIS IS 2023,DON'T FALL VICTIM OF YOUR IGNORANCE !!!

There is a saying that goes thus "Better be unborn than untaught, for ignorance is the root of misfortune." Also the "the admission of ignorance is the beginning of our education ". With this few adage,allow me to tell you that: YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A FASHION DESIGNER TO LEARN ABOUT WHAT FASHION ENTAILS.

Yes! I said that!!!,being fashion horiented doesn't necessarily mean you have to be a fashion designer,don't make that mistake that you don't need fashion knowledge,because My dear! You do.

There is this friend of mine during my university days,she is always sceptical about the choice of fashion designer for different types of fabrics and one day,I asked her that "Babe,I thought you said this particular fashion designer is good at what she does,so why not give this fabric to her?" And she will reply with words like "I know she is good at work she does but she is not good with this particular style I want,so I will have to give it to someone that is good with it",these words made me think and learn about what I am about to share with you in these series and I am so sure you will want to learn so as not to fall victim again.

So,before we start,do you even know the types of fashion designers there is? I bet some of us don't know and that's why we give our wears to an economy fashion designer and then the story will end with "what I ordered vs what I got" ,so,to avoid this in 2023,let's learn together.

To my fashion designers too,let's gather around and learn about our area of expertise so that we don't get dragged for nothing or even struggle with what we don't have to struggle with.

Fun fact:The Most Commonly Used Fabric


Have you ever wondered which is the most commonly used in fabric to make garments? The answer is cotton. Cotton is the oldest type of fabric to have been discovered. Cotton was found more than 3000 years ago and has been used to make fabrics all around the world since then. When it comes to fashion designing, there is a lot that can be done with a piece of cotton fabric. Cotton is very easy to use to make different types of garments. Cotton is also loved by everyone because it is comfortable and soft. It is also the best type of fabric to be worn in any season, be it summer or winter. There are more than 25 different varieties of cotton which makes it very important in the fashion designing industry.

As a lady,someone called you and say "hello Tife,I saw this beautiful gown at the store/online and I know it will look good on you but I don't know your size,what's your size? so I can get/order it for you" and you are like,"haar!! Me I don't know my size o,just buy anyone".

Aunty!!! It's not supposed to be like that o,don't be missing out on opportunities just because you don't know if you are size 8 or 12, abeg,to avoid stories that touches the soul and spirit,that's why you have this,ask you tailor to measure you and use this as a guide for your next opportunity 😉

What is Success?🤔

After I recovered from my LOSS, I never gave up on my dream of becoming a SUCCESSFUL fashion designer! NEVER!!!

You know what I did, I took a pause and then I re-strategized!💯

I looked myself in the mirror and I said "Babe, you can overcome this", of which I did.🥳🥳

I did re-strategized and lines were falling in right places.

N.B; Sometimes it's acceptable to be at loss/fail, but what you do to recover is very very important!

• Dear reader, may I know your definition of SUCCESS?🤔

• May I know those things that has been hindering you from being SUCCESSFUL?🤔

Is procastination one of them?🤔
Dear reader, you need to fight all those hindrances, so as for you to EXCEL!

QUICK ONE
HOW TO FIGHT THESE BARRIERS/HINDRANCES;
1. Set goals
2. Prioritize
3. Set deadlines
4. Hold yourself accountable
5. Take a break
6. Be ready (always) to unlearn, and to relearn
7. Take corrections from people that are ahead of you
8. Reward yourself

With these👆, you'll be able to make the right decisions, take right steps and then they'll make you SUCCESSFUL!!

Sometimes you need more that passion to do things,cause your passion for a thing will/may fail when the business is not working out as it should.

So it all started in 2021, after my training when I ventured fully into Fashion. I discovered I had passion for ready-to-wear because it gives me room to express my creativity!🤗
And guess what?🤔 It all started well, things were going smoothly (I'd say), I was soooo excited about the business.
You know, coming up with a style, sewing it and then giving it the Abeliah package... all of these gave me joy.

But suddenly🥺 as time went by, I discovered I wasn't making enough money from the business, it got to a point that I had to give some out (it's not as if the styles/clothes weren't good o).😢💔

I got discouraged, I cease to believe in myself, I thought I couldn't do it, I lost hope!!!😔😩

So instead of selling at good rates, I failed the market (by reducing the price) and gradually I ran at LOSS! At long run, I gave the remaining ones out and even wore some myself.

This was when ABELIAH FASHION HOUSE, first started her ready-to-wear clothing's.

N.B: Never give up(even when you're at loss)!
All you have to do is pause and restrategize ,it will work out someday!
