I saw a post about Teni covering up more when she was bigger, and it suggested that people hide because they’re fat… then suddenly dress more “girly” when they lose weight.

That narrative is not entirely true.

Every size has soft, feminine, girly designs.
You just have to find what flatters your body.

Let’s not act like only plus-size women cover up. I can confidently tell you there are slim women permanently in sneakers, wide-leg jeans, and oversized polos too, fully covered.

It’s not always about size.

I almost didn’t post this.

I wanted the sketch to look better.
Cleaner lines.
Better drawing.
And if we’re being honest, I know I could draw better with more practice.
For a moment, I thought of waiting
until I could sketch it “properly.”

But this, this makes sense to me.
I understand the cut.
I know where the stones will sit.
I can already see it finished in my head.

Someone else might look at this and think,
“You don dey mad, you no go wait make you sabi am finish?"

But I’ve learned that you don’t wait until everything looks impressive before you begin.
You start when you understand what you’re building. You start where you are.
People might not see it yet, but that’s okay.

I wore a boubou today and honestly… it ate

Comfortable? Yes.
Confident? Very.
Respected? Ah. Everywhere I turned it was “ma… ma… ma.”

That’s the thing about a good boubou — it does the work for you.
It gives confidence, because when nothing is tugging or stressing you, you just stand different.
