On 20 Nov. 2019 Amnesty International declared human rights defender Omoyele Sowore a Prisoner of Conscience, as he faced bogus charges and an unfair trial solely for exercising his right to freedom of expression.
The flawed charges and sham trial of Sowore expose the inadequacies and bizarre manipulation of the Nigerian criminal justice system and an unacceptable contempt for the rule of law and human rights.
The Nigerian authorities must drop all charges against Omoyele Sowore immediately and unconditionally.
