When we held the first edition of the 9jababy Trade Fair, nothing was certain. The venue was set, the banners were ready, but deep down, many vendors were nervous. It was their first time showcasing their baby products outside Instagram —and truth be told, some were scared no one would show up.
The morning of the fair was cloudy. A few vendors came late. One even whispered, “I doubt we’ll sell anything today.”
But as the clock struck 11am, something shifted. The crowd started trooping in. Mothers , expecting moms, aunties, uncles, even grandparents. The hall came alive with laughter, baby giggles, and jingles from small speakers.
One vendor, Amaka, had only brought 12 pieces of her handmade baby carrier. By noon, she’d sold them all. She quickly called her brother to bring the rest from home. By 4pm, she was sold out and got three bulk orders from baby stores who had come to scout for suppliers.
Another vendor, Tunde, who sold baby shoes, made only one sale that day. He left quietly, feeling discouraged. But a week later, one of the mothers who picked his contact at the fair ordered 50 pairs for resale. That single order changed his business story.
Sometimes, success doesn’t show up on the first day but seeds do.
Every post, every fair, every conversation is a seed waiting for its moment to grow.
If you’re a business owner feeling tired or uncertain right now, remember: the crowd may not come immediately, but consistency will always call them forth.
Keep showing up. Keep improving. Keep believing.
Because just like the first 9jababy Trade Fair, your breakthrough moment might already be on its way
