The U.S. Treasury is expanding its buyback operations for longer-dated government bonds as borrowing costs remain elevated.

JUDGE SWAPPED IN TRUMP’S $10 BILLION BBC DEFAMATION CASE

A major development has emerged in Donald Trump’s $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the BBC, with a different federal judge now handling a key part of the case. The legal battle stems from a BBC documentary that Trump claims deceptively edited his January 6, 2021 speech, making it appear that he was encouraging violence.

The judge change comes as the case enters an increasingly intense phase. Trump had previously been ordered to provide extensive financial information to the BBC, but U.S. District Judge Roy Altman later paused that order while Trump seeks to amend his complaint and narrow his claims.

Meanwhile, the BBC is fighting back. Tensions between Russia and Britain are rising again.

Russia has accused the UK of becoming an “accomplice” in Ukrainian attacks after reports that British-made drones are being used to strike targets deep inside Russian territory.

The Russian embassy in London warned that the deeper Britain becomes involved, “the higher the price it will pay.”

The warning comes as Ukraine continues its long-range drone campaign against Russian military and industrial targets.

PROSECUTION RESTS IN LINDSAY CLANCY’S TRIPLE-MURDER TRIAL — NOW THE DEFENSE TAKES OVER

After weeks of emotional and disturbing testimony, a major stage of the Lindsay Clancy trial has come to an end.

Prosecutors have rested their case against the Massachusetts mother accused of killing her three young children in January 2023.

Clancy is accused of killing her children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan — at the family's home in Duxbury.

The prosecution spent approximately three weeks presenting its case, calling nearly 70 witnesses and presenting evidence concerning Clancy's mental health, medical treatment, digital activity and what happened around the time of the children's deaths.

Among the evidence presented to jurors was testimony from medical professionals, first responders and experts who examined Clancy's medical and digital records.

Prosecutors have argued that Clancy was criminally responsible for the deaths and have pointed to evidence they say suggests she deliberately planned what happened.

The defense, however, is telling a very different story.

Her lawyers acknowledge that Clancy killed the children but argue that she was suffering from a severe mental illness, including postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder, and therefore should not be held criminally responsible for her actions.

The defense has also argued that her mental health treatment was inadequate and that she was prescribed numerous psychiatric medications in the months leading up to the tragedy.

Now that the prosecution has finished presenting its evidence, the defense gets its turn.

That means the next phase of the trial will focus heavily on Clancy's mental state and whether her attorneys can convince the jury that she was legally not responsible for what happened.

The case has already raised difficult questions about postpartum mental illness, psychiatric treatment, criminal responsibility and how warning signs are handled before a tragedy occurs.

But ultimately, the jury will have to answer a much narrower legal question:

Was Lindsay Clancy criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children?

The defense is now preparing to present its case.

The trial continues.

UK PRIME MINISTER MESSAGED SOMEONE PRETENDING TO BE TRUMP’S CHIEF OF STAFF

A surprising security incident has emerged involving UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and a person pretending to be one of Donald Trump’s top White House officials.

Burnham reportedly exchanged a few text messages with someone posing as Susie Wiles, President Trump’s chief of staff, before concerns were raised about the identity of the person on the other end.

According to reports, no significant or sensitive information was exchanged, and the suspicious communication was quickly reported to the appropriate authorities.

The British embassy in Washington was also sufficiently concerned that it raised the matter with the White House.

Downing Street has declined to comment, saying it does not discuss matters relating to national security.

But this isn't the first time someone has attempted to impersonate Wiles.

U.S. authorities previously investigated attempts to access her personal phone after people including politicians and business figures received messages from someone claiming to be Trump's chief of staff.

What makes the latest incident particularly interesting is that Burnham is now the UK's prime minister and has already been involved in direct discussions with President Trump on issues including Britain's energy and immigration policies.

The exact timing of the messages and what was discussed has not been publicly disclosed.

UK conference honours Nigerian philanthropist for humanitarian service

The Chief Executive Officer of the Esther Matthew Tonlagha Foundation, Pastor (Mrs) Esther Tonlagha, has been recognised among the 2026 Top 100 Reputable Women of African Descent for her dedication to humanitarian service and community development.

Tonlagha received the award at the Africa Women Summit United Kingdom Conference 2026 held on Saturday at Hilton Croydon, UK.

During the conference, she also participated as a panel speaker, which was themed, “Her Power, Her Purpose, Her Platform,” and brought together women leaders, partners and stakeholders to discuss leadership, empowerment and social impact.

In her acceptance speech, Tonlagha said the recognition was not only a personal honour but a reflection of the collective efforts of her foundation, volunteers, partners and supporters.

On behalf of the Esther Matthew Tonlagha Foundation, I am deeply honoured to receive this award for Humanitarian Service in Nigeria,” she said.

She added that the EMT Foundation was established to give vulnerable people opportunities to live with dignity, hope and a better future.

According to her, the foundation’s interventions have focused on empowerment, education, healthcare, community development and humanitarian assistance.

Tonlagha said the recognition would further strengthen her resolve to expand the foundation’s humanitarian interventions across communities.

“I accept this award not only as an honour, but also as a responsibility, a responsibility to do more, reach more people, create more opportunities, and continue serving humanity with compassion and purpose,” she said.

She added, “There is still much work to be done, and this recognition strengthens our determination to continue.”

Tonlagha dedicated the honour to her team, volunteers, partners, supporters and the communities served by the foundation, describing their resilience as a major source of inspiration.

She also expressed appreciation to the organisers of the summit for recognising the foundation’s humanitarian efforts and pledged continued service to vulnerable Nigerians.
