This dress actually started with another dress we made last year.
We had a dress that went viral and somehow, that post found its way to the bride’s friend. She reached out to me on behalf of the bride.They already had an idea of what they wanted, the colour palette, the general direction for the beading and the overall feel of the dress.
I sent the invoice, and within about two weeks of making the enquiry, they made deposit and we created a group with the bride, her friend and I, and that was where the real work began.
Everything was done virtually, from the consultation to measurements, fabric sourcing, design discussions, beading samples and adjustments.
They had a very specific colour they wanted, so I spent time sourcing the right materials and sending them updates along the way. We also made a few changes to the beading direction as the dress came together.
At one point, they were honestly a little worried that the dress wasn’t going to come out the way they had imagined it. So I called them.
We talked through everything, I reassured them, and asked them to trust me and trust the process. And they did.
Eventually, the dress was completed and shipped to them. And when she received it, the fit was perfectly.
This is one of the things I really enjoy about working with my remote clients. You may be miles away from our studio, but you are still very much part of the process.You get to see the progress, ask questions, make decisions, and watch your dress come together. And most importantly, you don’t have to be physically present for us to create something that feels like it was made just for you.
