- Parents: His father, Winston, is from Sierra Leone and worked at Ford Dagenham, while his mother, Eve, is from Ghana and had a clerical duty.
- Education: Elba attended school in Canning Town and gained a place in the National Youth Music Theatre.
- Career: He is an award-winning English actor, producer, musician and disk jockey. He is known for his lead role in the British crime drama series Luther and his portrayal of Nelson Mandela in the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. He has also appeared in various other movies and TV shows, including The Wire, American Gangster, Thor and The Office.
- Awards: He has been nominated for the Golden Globe five times, winning one, and has been nominated for the Emmy Award five times as well. He was also named in Time Magazine’s list of 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2016.
