This is work well for female tailors

After making your customers dress, don't hoard their remaining fabric instead throw these options at them politely but convincly.

Depending on the quantity of fabric left...

1. Ma, this remaining fabric is enough to make a shift dress that you can wear to work, would you like that?

2. I saw this baby dress that I think you will love, I can actually make it for you with your remaining fabric. (Women love to twin with their young daughters). what do you say?

3. I can make you a head gear/fascinator, or any head wrap that goes well with a bubu gown. Should I go ahead. Women love this.

MY HEARTBREAK EXPERIENCE!!!

Part 1

Tailor too dey get heart break oh!!!

That year, her friend had referred her to Amaks Fashion

We made her this gorgeous asoebi dress.

I was away when she came for fitting so my girls attended to her and everything was on point.

I returned later to place and hands stitch the appliques and she returned some days later for pickup.

Honestly her dress stood out amongst the rest.

She complimented our good work with nice makeup and gele.

She sent me more pictures than I could have requested of her. Plus a thank you message via WhatsApp.

You know when you know that your dress is fine, fits you plus compliments every where, the shakara hits differently.

Let's not even talk about the finishing, cos I don't joke with that.

After sometime, she reached out saying she was planning her wedding and would love for me to make all her outfits- Photoshoot, traditional and reception dress based on the good job I did earlier.

We agreed on a day she would bring the fabrics. I asked to get an idea of what she'd love and sent style inspirations.

She came of the agreed day oh.

We remeasured her fabrics to avoid stories that touch and got down to the business of the day.

We landed and agreed on style, price and all.

She asked I send account details for part payment which I did.

Color me surprised when I received her call early the next day with stories that touch.

According to her, her "Oga" said paying for the clothes is not a problem but paying a tailor that amount in Nsukka, he cannot can.

In other words, I'm not qualified to be paid such amount not because I'm not skilled cos c'mon she came to me on referral and I didn't disappoint but because my environment somehow place an embargo on how much my services must not exceed.

My sister, if anyone tells you that location doesn't matter so long as you are good, please know that they are just whining you oh.

Location is a serious matter that matters in every matter.

Like joke like play, I lost that job.

That was the day I understood why top designers charge consultation fees.

You can imagine the hours it took me to attend to a bride with over 5 outfits.

Sketching and re-sketching. Walking her through the entire design. Suggesting...

After everything, shishi I know see...

She came some days later and parked her fabrics.

if like me you don't always have the time to take those posh pictures, model your dresses with Grok AI. The prompt can even make the image walk around or whatever you want it to do.

P.S.: I had not added the appliques before taking the picture I used to model. my lightening was also not bright cos it was taken at night that's why the patter land color looks a bit different.

One of my customers came to my shop wearing this beautiful dress with stylish sleeves.

Immediately she stepped in, I complimented her dress and asked to take a picture of the stylish sleeve.

Upon that request, she went on to tell me a little about her dress and the several compliments she has gotten all through the day about that dress in particular.

Here's the story...

According to her, she got that dress over 7 years ago. Wore it for some time and stopped.

Recently, someone she buys wears from reached out to her with a picture of the exact dress asking her to buy but she told the person she already has this dress from years back.

That was how she went deep into her box to search it out and started wearing it again.

Meanwhile, the dress cost some 10s of thousands.

Why am I giving you this gist???

As a business owner/fashion designer, you should learn to be proactive.

People admire your dress and you are waiting till they ask you before you tell them you made it.

You are waiting to attract them to yourself.

You don't want to look desperate abi???

WHY WHAT YOU ORDERED MAY NOT BE WHAT YOU GET

Alot of times, we see images of WIO vs WIG online. Sometimes we blame the tailor and other times the blame clearly falls on the client.

Using this dress made by Amaks Fashion let me show you one other factors that my give different results of same design.

1. QUALITY OF FABRIC: So she reach out to me asking that I make this dress on the right. After all said I done, I received the fabric and the quality was way lower than the original. Using different quality of fabrics especially texture wise will definitely give different results.

2. QUALITY OF FABRIC: Currently, the first picture comes in 5.5 yards while the second comes in 6 yards. I still had to cut out one yard for the boy since the children are triplets leaving me with 4.5 yards. Meanwhile, I would normally use 3 yards each for children their age when working with high quality ankara to get fullness now I had to manage 4.5 yards for these too. Now you know why the dress is not full.

3. PRICE: In baby dresses, there are fabrics that go underneath the baby dress to give it the supposed fullness. We couldn't do that here because of pricing. Yeah, some would just go for BASIC since making the "CORRECT" will sometimes cost more than x2 of the basic.

Anyways, they were all happy with their dress and that's what's most important.

You can imagine my joy after I settled in and she showed me the blouse she completed the previous day.

This off shoulder dress is just perfect.

Infact I told her it looked like something I made myself. You needed to see me "prouding" that morning.

The dress was not done with any special sewing materials. Not even "padding" for the bust area. She only used ankara fabric and lining but can you see how neat this dress is?

See the ironing sef...yes! how to properly iron is another thing I teach at Amaks Fashion because its guarantees the overall neatness of your work.
