WHEN THE THOUGHT OF GOING TO FASHION SCHOOL CAME
Episode 1 — The Thought
When the thought of going to fashion school came, I honestly laughed.
Not because it was funny, but because it sounded impossible.
I had always loved fashion. I could spend hours looking at beautiful clothes, studying how they were sewn, admiring the way different fabrics moved, and imagining how I would redesign certain outfits.
But loving fashion was one thing.
Going to fashion school was another.
“Me? Fashion school?” I whispered to myself one evening, staring at my reflection in the mirror.
The thought had come so suddenly.
At first, I tried to push it away.
I told myself there were more important things to do. I told myself fashion was just a hobby. I told myself I wasn't talented enough.
But the more I tried to forget about it, the stronger the thought became.
That night, I picked up my phone and searched:
“Fashion schools near me.”
My heart started beating faster as different schools appeared on the screen.
I imagined myself sitting in a classroom, learning how to sketch designs, taking measurements, cutting fabrics and finally sewing something I had created with my own hands.
For the first time, the dream didn't feel completely impossible.
Then reality hit me.
Money.
I stared at the school fees on my screen and sighed.
“How am I supposed to afford this?”
I almost closed the page.
Almost.
But something inside me refused to let the dream die that easily.
The next morning, I told my senior sister.
“I think I want to go to fashion school.”
She looked at me for a few seconds.
Then she smiled.
“I knew it.”
“Knew what?”
“That this was coming.”
I laughed nervously.
“But what if I fail?”
She shrugged.
“What if you don't?”
That question stayed with me all day.
And maybe that was the moment everything changed.
Because sometimes, a dream doesn't arrive with money, connections or a perfect plan.
Sometimes, it arrives as a simple thought...
What if I actually try?
And that was exactly what I decided to do.
I was going to find a way.
But I had no idea that choosing fashion school would change much more than my career.
It would change my friendships.
My confidence.
My family.
And eventually...
my entire life.
To be continued…
