š” WHO REALLY RUNS THE HOUSE š”
---A hilarious story from Yusuf family---
During the annual Yusuf family Eid picnic at the family compound in Oyo, after everyone had eaten more rice and ram meat than they planned, the elders sat in a circle under the neem tree with their miswaks and soft drinks.
Uncle Kabir, always the loudest after food, stood up with his cap slightly tilted and said,
"Letās settle this matter today. If you know youāre the true head of your householdālike the imam of the houseāstand up boldly!"
There was a moment of silence.
Then, slowly, about 10 uncles and brothers stood up with pride, straightening their kaftans like sultans.
But from the other side of the yard, their wives just sat thereā¦ arms crossed, eyes sharp, hijabs slightly tighter.
One by one, like dominos in slow motion, the men began sitting back down.
Some claimed they just stood to stretch their legs. Others said they thought it was a call to prayer.
Only one brother remained standingāSulaiman.
Freshly married. Still glowing like the new moon after Ramadan.
He stood tall, hands behind his back like a soldier reporting for duty.
Everyone started cheering.
Auntie Halima yelled, āSubhanallah! So Sulaiman dey rule his home?ā
Uncle Kabir, full of joy, asked,
"Young man, tell us! How are you the only one still standing?"
Sulaiman looked around, smiled shyly and said,
"Wallahi, itās my wife that told me to stand upā¦ she said I must not disgrace her in front of her aunties."
The entire compound erupted in laughter!
Even Grandpaās prayer beads stopped moving.
From that day, Sulaiman earned the title:
"Amir of the Houseā¦ but under supervision."
