Brief History of Adire

The word ‘Adire’ is coined from two Yoruba words, (Adi) means “to tie” and (re) means “to dye”. Adire is an indigo reverse-dyed cloth made in southwestern Nigeria by Yoruba women, using a variety of resist dyeing techniques. It is most common among the Egba people of Ogun State.

LESSONS YOU CAN LEARN FROM A FASHION DESIGNER ✂️🪡
Drawing and sketching are some of the skills required in pattern making.
Creative designers always put down Their idea, design, style or pattern on paper before construction begins.
They don't do this because they have all day to work,but simply because it enables them do the following:
1. Know the kind of fabric and materials to be purchased for making the clothes.
2. It helps the designer preview, plan, and explain their ideas.
3. Envisage the end result of their design
4. Know where to make additions, corrections and modification.

These process showcases creativity, and the uniqueness of the designer.

In 2023, make your own designs, plans and goals that is bespoke to you. Don't go about running with other people's vision and plan because you won't last long, in short you will wear out quickly.
Know the kind of materials you'll be working with and reach out for them. Resources are everywhere, even online here. Leverage on them.
Learn, glean and practice. You'll achieve more.

As a designer, it is important to choose clothing shapes that are most flattering to the body type you are designing for.
The shape that you create for your design can either accentuate or disguise parts of a female or male’s natural body.

You should always try to flatter the good features and hide the less attractive features, this is because the person wearing your tailor made outfit is actually advertising your brand in one way or the other, so if the outfit looks drab on the person, it won't tell good of your brand.
Most clients will want to choose elaborate and body revealing styles that wouldn't fit them so well, probably because of their body shape, figure, or stature. Try as much as you can to hide the less attractive features, for instance if the person has a bad bad body shape, or a flat butts, then don't sew a fitted or skimpy dress for her, because her shape won't appreciate the silhouette the dress brings.
Talk them into wearing something much better and classic, so they don't feel bad.
