My journey into sewing was met with enthusiasm from family but skepticism from friends, who believed my disinterest in fashion design would hinder my learning. Undeterred, I approached my boss and made it clear that this was about her brand, requesting all the tools I needed to immerse myself in the craft for the coming year.
To everyone’s surprise, after just one week of training, I created a beautiful dress without any supervision. When I submitted it, my boss bought me lunch and jokingly remarked, “I thought you were just a nepo babe and wouldn’t really commit to this craft!” I replied, “Ma, you don’t actually know me too well; I don’t joke with what I’ve decided to do.”
By the third month, I was confidently managing client orders. My success came down to four key principles:
1. consistency in practice
2. mastery of techniques,
3. unwavering dedication, and a genuine love for the craft.
