HOW TO CHOOSE FABRIC FOR YOUR BODY TYPE
Most outfit disappointments don’t come from bad sewing…
They come from wrong fabric choices. Imagine sewing Bubu gown with denim fabric and you want it to flow. Haba na!

Anyway, here’s a simple guide every woman should know;

🔹 CURVY / FULL BODY
Best fabrics: ✔ Crepe
✔ Duchess satin
✔ Brocade
✔ Medium-weight lace
Why: They hold structure and define your curves beautifully without clinging.
🚫 Avoid very thin or watery fabrics, they exaggerate areas you may not want.

🔹 SLIM / PETITE BODY
Best fabrics: ✔ Ankara
✔ Organza
✔ Linen
✔ Textured lace
Why: These add volume and shape, so your outfit doesn’t look flat.
🚫 Avoid overly heavy fabrics, they can swallow your frame.

🔹 PEAR-SHAPED BODY (Wide hips, smaller top)
Best fabrics: ✔ Stiff fabrics for tops
✔ Softer flowy fabrics for skirts
Why: Balance is everything,structure on top, movement below.

🔹 APPLE-SHAPED BODY (Full midsection)
Best fabrics: ✔ Chiffon
✔ Soft crepe
✔ Matte silk
Why: They drape smoothly and don’t add bulk around the tummy.
🚫 Avoid shiny or clingy materials around the waist.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR FABRICS : ANKARA VERSION

WASHING ANKARA FABRIC :
1.Wash separately first, new Ankara can bleed COLOR especially if it's a low quality.

2.Use cold or lukewarm water, hot water fades prints.

3.Mild soap only ; avoid harsh detergents or bleach.

4.Hand wash is best (especially for quality Ankara) but If you still want to use a washing machine, turn inside out and use a gentle cycle.

DRYING

1.Air dry instead of using a dryer.

2..Dry inside out to protect the PRINT and avoid harsh sun while at it(it can fade the colors over time).

IRONING

1.Iron inside OUT and use medium heat.
Slightly damp fabric gives the best finish.

🧴 STAIN CARE

Treat stains immediately. Dab Gently and don’t scrub hard.

Test any stain remover on a small hidden area first.

📦 Storage

1.Store in a cool, dry place and fold neatly or hang.
Avoid damp areas to prevent mold and smell.

Before sewing: Soak Ankara in salt water for 20–30 minutes, rinse, then dry.This helps set the color and reduce bleeding 💡
