The special feature of this fabric is the uniqueness of the pattern. This organic pattern of two colour shades is created by crushing the wax-covered cotton before dipping it in dye. When the wax is eventually washed off, the special bubble effect remains. This technique makes every centimeter of the fabric unrepeatable! The fabric is made by Vlisco in the Netherlands.

I love skirts! In my 20's I wore exclusively skirts, I have not worn a pair of trousers for 10 years!* So I feel like I am a specialist in the subject. The most annoying thing about skirts is that usually they have no pockets. Such a shame! What to do with one's hands? After spending some weeks working mostly on marketing, it was time for me to get back behind the sewing machine! I'm restocking the Earth&Sea shirts, and of course I had to start with cutting the fabric. First I fold the fabric neatly, then align all the pattern pieces, so they sit straight to the fabric grain! Then I cut it all by hand, with some sharp seamstress scissors. This is always taking some time, and I'm so grateful for my standing table, otherwise it would be a torture! Of course Lika, my little feline assistant, has no problem jumping on it when she wants to remind me that it's almost her dinner time 😆
