Time to pull out your patchwork jackets for the “inbetween” season.

I was exploring ideas of how to use up leftover fabrics and one of the best solutions I found was to “pixelate” them. Make small squares out of the bits you have and join them again.

This particular piece is a refinement of the idea, letting the technical sophistication shine. I made 4 more similar jackets before this one. Each of them progressively better and cooler than the previous one.

With this jacket you can enjoy space for your comfort, design for your style and uniqueness for your attitude.

The design is inspired by a kimono cut and my inability to let go of the idea of having sleeves and the bodice be the same piece. So I cut out and joined more than 150 squares and specially designed blocks (thanks for the idea and guidance) to give you the feel of a jacket that is sculpted around your body.Just for you.

My particular prides are the two front pockets hiding in the seams and also when the sipper is closed the seams of the squares align perfectly.

Bow tie bouquet from the secret garden

A need-to-have item for every lover of silk bow ties. This beautiful medium weight fabric in red and gold colours with delicate rectangular pattern will pop out on any background. I found this fabric walking around in Brussels and bought only a little bit to experiment with and now I wish I bought a lot more of it. From what I have I can make only about 5 bow ties so act quickly.

Upcycling is one of my favorite things to do. Take unwanted or wasted materials and turn them into something new and unexpected.

Transformation is the way of progress.

I found the pillowcase in a charity shop and I instantly knew that this will be a great material for my bow ties. Beautiful metallic purple fabric with a black floral detail that has a bit of a hairy texture.

So deliciously odd!

Another stunner!
And the shorts aren't too bad either.

Look at the regular structure of the green fabric. While on it's own I found it a little uninspiring.
I needed to break the regularity.
The order needed to be smashed with another fabric with a high contrast and irregular pattern.
I chose for bright pink batik from , made a tape which I then shaped into a square. Fight fire with fire, right?! Distort rectangles with rectangles.
The effect mildly unsettling, eye catching. It draws attention and challenges the sense for order.
