Here are some peaks on prototypes that didn’t make the cut. In the past 10 years my biggest dream was to have my own brand. The brand was always there, but the product took longer. I want to take you along the journey of HAGEL and therefore I’ve shared my first deep read on conviction, prototypes and what it really takes to build something that is truly yours.

Throwback to all the different experiments we did in the past. Everything was made here in the studio, using all kind of random materials to push the boundaries and make inspiration for future designs. Which one if your favourite?

I had an idea for an outsole. Wanted to make this a reality, so I started here in the studio. The first prototype is handmade and very rough. The final result needs to have that same feeling. For the past 10 years I’ve captured that enthusiasm and energy by making fast prototypes. They aren’t perfect, but that’s what makes them unique. This will reflect in the end result. Sometimes the simplest ideas work the best. By cutting off the top part of the UB13-S GEL-SD-LYTE you simply get a beautiful Mary Jane kinda sneaker. The cage does all the work. This one worked out quite well. What do you think?
