Due to climate change and the planet heats up, the glaciers are disappearing. During the past 150 years, the massif has lost more than 92 percent of its ice, and scientist predict that the rest will be gone within the next 30 years. If that happens, the rivers that flow from these peaks will begin to run dry, and jeopardizing the animals and plants in the varied ecosystems and lives of not only the Arhuaco, but also millions of people in the region below.
The last two years the rivers had taken so much water from the glaciers and entire villages have been flooded affecting not just the biodiversity but also the tribes sustaining and living there with harmlessly.
