Deze dag in New York (donderdag) ging over winkels…

na een ochtendwandeling in Central Park ontmoette ik mijn agent om winkels te bekijken, lookbooks uit te geven en te voelen waar .world zou passen. En wat de vibe is van de markt waarin ik me wil gaan laten zien.

Winkels in New York gaan over concept, design, cultuur en authenticiteit. Deze zonnige lentedag bracht connectie, introductie en bovenal inspiratie.

En ik zou mezelf niet zijn als ik niet even bij binnen zou zijn gewaaid 🌸💕

Having met the makers of Peru here in New York has me inspired by their historical craftsmanship and luxurious materials. This trip is such an inspiring boost of inspiration and energy, and I’m still here…! Keep an eye out in my stories to see what I’m up to 👀

‘What are we all doing??’

Fact: there’s more than 300.000 womenswear brands in the world.

Fact: each brand creates at least two collections per year, most do more.

Fact: each collection embodies at least 30 styles, usually a lot more.

Fact: a season is too short to design anything of real quality and value, there’s constant pressure.

Fact: stores are also tired of the constant race against sales and convincing customers of more new styles.

Conclusion?

This just isn’t it.

What is?

- taking time for improving, testing, perfecting, going in depth
- improve existing designs instead of adding more and more and more
- more focus, less choice
- more functionality, more comfort, less ‘fashion’
- inclusivity and body consciousness as the base of design
- colour investigating and a deeper search for refined materials

We are very spoiled with an overkill in fashion today, for prices that shouldn’t be possible.

But as long as fashion is built upon volumes, the entire point of what garments can do for us, is lost.

Teder will built a brand with focus, intention and break free from the volume-focused machine.

Beautiful things are not rushed….
