once upon a time, some imaginative people made some very good things. and they said wonderful things about all of it.

just do it. never stop. explore. be all in. keep fair play. never just ride. run your way. be a visionary. let them be. own the reality. built to last. made to play. rebuild the world. tested for life. think different. impossible is nothing.

good words. every single one.

but here is the funny thing about good words. sometimes the things made don’t quite match.

some context:

500 million puffer jackets produced every year. most of them end up in landfill before one ever touched them. and the ones that did? so last season by next season, season after season.
been inside this machine for 30 years.

contributed. observed. listened. understood: nothing new is needed. no new mountains. no new sheep. no new anything, really, just new combinations. and connections.

now, allow mi to introduce a solution. soon, very soon.

until then allow for just one question: do you ever think about the future?

I’m new here. Kind of. I’m more than just a scarf.

I’m 200cm of moving textile and Guido de Boer treated me like his canvas.

When mi asked him to bring that practice onto a surface that moves, wraps, and changes with every body, he answered with two words: Extension. Extinction. 1 letters apart. 2 different directions, or not?

You wear one. You carry the other. The choice is yours every time you put me on. ps: you don’t wear mi. you put mi on. Wearing is passive. Putting on is a decision ;)

This is not a scarf featuring art. This is art that moves.

On Friday 20.11.25, we hosted BITS OF FREEDOM’s 26th anniversary.

In a surreal age of data and technocracy, we asked: who owns our identities? Who controls our data?

It was an evening where critical thinking wasn’t optional, synergy happened, spirits aligned, perspectives expanded.

For 26 years, Bits of Freedom has been the Netherlands’ leading digital rights organization, defending privacy, freedom of communication, and resisting surveillance long before it was a mainstream concern.

In relation to mi: we opened the floor to talk about plurality of identities, ownership, and the kind of privacy that truly matters.

Adding our bits to these bobs, us with Bits of Freedom invited Maarten Schuurman to create a fresh limited edition, a tasteful interplay on the mi_fanscarfsleeve: 26 very special pieces dropped that evening, AFR included :)
