Another day talking about the journey of designing a vessel for ‘s Wbrc 2026 :)

Today is about Iterate.

There seems to be no shortcut when it comes to delivering flavor and aroma. Every round of iteration teaches us something, and points us toward the next factor that worth exploring.

The first round we delivered the aroma, the second helped us navigate the balance between sweetness and acidity. With each iteration, we control a few variables, and uncover new factors that might be influential.

That’s the beauty of the process.☕️🥄🐦‍⬛

Back from WOC, a great way to wrap up the first half of 2026.

Supporting Mik on his WBrC journey was definitely a highlight. Over the past six months, I’ve had the chance to roll with an incredible team that shares the same precision, dedication, and well-roasted sense of humor🔥🤭 Jessica .amsterdam .notes .notes (Winnie and Oreo as well!)

From winter to summer, we’ve been working together to curate a sensory experience we’re proud of!! That 10min on the brutal world stage, oh my… Mik you did such an amazing job!!🙌☕️

More behind the scenes stories will follow, but for now lovely people, let’s sit back, cool down, and enjoy some good sips!!🤍

Prototyping.
Few things in this world give me focus like no others.

Plaster turning may seem a little outdated in today’s world of digital prototyping, but I still enjoy every session with the wheel.

It’s a process of going back and forth, constantly acting, reacting, adjusting, and refining.

You know the best part?

You keep going until the form settles, noise fade, and that quiet feeling in your stomach finally says:

“We good.”

Thank you for documenting the process of forging next competition cup for Wbrc 2026, few days to Brussels, few days for the story behind another vessel. ☕️🥄🐦‍⬛

“What really gives coffee its soul, its passion?
A story of many hands, many choices, and many moments.”

This was the opening line of Pedro Lima’s routine during the Belgium Brewers Cup final, and it perfectly summed up our journey of collaboration.☕️

Meeting Damien and connecting with Pedro from Team , whom Damien was coaching for the Brewers Cup final, was probably one of my favourite takeaways from

20 days after that first meeting, it became a race against time—adjusting design details to match Pedro’s washed Geisha from Guatemala. Not only did we refine the cup, we also managed to reproduce one of my older designs as a water-collecting tray for the Area Z1 Pedro used during his routine.

Pedro chose our Sensory Cup #1 with a glazed rim. We kept the design features that enhance sweetness while re-curving the rim to better showcase the cleanliness of a washed coffee. I think every designer has their own soft spot, I always feel a little unsatisfied when my design can’t showcase a clean cup. (FYI, I’m currently still in my bright, washed, fruity-floral, tea-like era.🤭)

Congratulations to Pedro, Damien, Team Wide Awake, and the many hands behind this incredible journey—from the producer all the way to the final cup. .be

And thanks again to for documenting the process so beautifully. Watching the footage honestly makes me feel like I’m in a movie!

Never too late to explore a new part of your homeland, right?

My “west point” of China was Chengdu till this trip.
I read about Jianshui ceramics, fascinated by that pitch black surface.
I tasted Yunnan coffee roasted by European roasters.
But this piece of land stayed quite abstract to me for a long time.

The April landing was windy and a bit scary.
Made me wonder if I’ve been pushing life a bit too hard these past few years, and which part of my pilot grandpa I might have inherited.
A few days later, I realized this is probably a route I will fly again.

That moment came,
when I saw the plantations thriving,
when I tasted flowers and fresh sprouts,
when I wandered in the market, smelling fruits and vegetables naturally and beautifully ripened.

I wish I could stay a few more weeks, when I smell the green beans which was co-fermented with fresh guava,
watching them dance in the sample roaster,
While zoning out staring that thick foliage outside the window, in that caramelized air.☕️

Together with Wayld Roaster and Yuting Coffee,
we did a marathon tasting session to find the right sensory cup match.
Jie is tiptoeing dancing happy, because although she can’t stay longer this time, but her cups will:)
