Waist cinching is an important tool for women's dressing.
What can you use to highlight it?
✔️ Belts are the easiest and quickest of course, but the colour of the belt - contrasting or blending in with the dress - is also a factor. Wide belts are more suitable for slimmer body shapes, while thin belts are more daring for larger sizes.
✔️ Contrasting colour - i.e. where two garments meet at the waistline, top and bottom, there is a line that cuts the body, unless you choose a monochrome set. That's why it's also worth making sure that this line doesn't end at the hips, because at that point it upsets our vertical body proportion and widens the hips as it increases the width.
✔️ Tailoring line - one of the most rewarding solutions, as it can be very tricky and beautiful to shape and form. Especially on dresses and overalls, it can accentuate the waist nicely. Vertical lines can be used to slim the waist.
If we look at body shapes: an hourglass obviously has a waist, but it is always good to emphasise it, and he should take care not to cover it.
The athlete has a straight physique, and needs to be specifically designed to achieve this by any means.
The pear body shape is usually thinner at the waist, it is also worth emphasising, and as looser solutions for the hips - e.g. the line - are preferable, the waist is always thinner. Of course, the upper body should also be strengthened to achieve the hourglass figure proportion.
Strawberries, of course, should have the hips rounded the other way round.
The biggest challenge is the apple, as it is stronger right at the waistline, but you can play with fine cut lines here, empire line dresses are also preferable, or asymmetrical cut lines.
