This piece is made from 100% lightweight wool fabric, which I folded and crumpled by hand before meticulously sewing it onto a second fabric base. Every stitch was done by hand.
The garment took approximately 120 hours to complete.
I originally created it for my 2018 collection Ansatt/Insatt (Employee/Inmate), which explored the uniforms worn by staff and inmates within institutions, and how clothing shapes the way we perceive and categorize people.
The piece was scheduled to appear at New York Fashion Week in 2018, but my model withdrew from the show at the very last minute because she was unhappy with the makeup. Instead of watching it walk the runway, I found myself standing backstage, holding this 6-kilogram hand-sewn creation in my arms while the rest of the collection made its debut.
In May 2026, I had the honor of participating in the return of the Oslo Fashion Week couture show at the top floor of Plaza.
