The countdown to the ClubSwan 36 Nations League has begun.

Four events. Four iconic courses. One season defined by precision, and the relentless pursuit of performance across the Mediterranean.

It begins in Bonifacio, where sheer limestone cliffs, shifting gusts, and tight tactical decisions set the tone for the opening challenge from 29 April – 2 May.

From there, the fleet moves to the waters of Porto Rotondo in late May, before the intensity builds again in Porto Rafael at the height of summer.

The season reaches its final chapter in Rolex Swan Cup at Porto Cervo this September, where every manoeuvre, every crossing, and every decision carries the weight of the series.

Welcoming Jesse Grylls to the Henri-Lloyd team for a season of northern miles ahead.

Fresh from a winter refit, ambassador Jesse Grylls’ 40 ft steel-hulled yacht is back where it belongs, under sail.

The first sea trial marks the start of a demanding route. No stranger to testing limits, Jesse’s long northern progression begins in Southampton, heading to North Wales, through Scotland, then onwards to the Faroes and Iceland, before the final push to Greenland.

A steady escalation from coastal miles to remote cold-water crossings.

Out on the water, everything simplifies. The wind fills in.
Conversation drops away.

A quick read of sail shape, the feel of pressure through the rig, and the small instinctive movements that keep the boat moving cleanly through the water.

There are few photographers who understand the language of the sea quite like Kurt Arrigo.

From the raw unpredictability of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race to the spectacle of the Rolex Fastnet Race and the home-water theatre of the Rolex Middle Sea Race, his images have helped shape how modern sailing is seen and remembered.

Raised in Malta, Kurt captures what makes these waters iconic: scale, patience, atmosphere, and the moments only revealed to those willing to wait for them.

“Shooting onboard is where I feel most connected, one hand for safety, the other for the camera, immersed in the raw elements.” – Kurt Arrigo

Fewer people have sailed a full circumnavigation than have crossed the threshold of orbit.

That contrast sharpens at Point Nemo, the most remote position on Earth’s ocean surface: 2,688 km from the nearest land in the South Pacific. In that blue void, human proximity is often found not on the water, but high above it, with the International Space Station passing roughly 400 km overhead as the nearest inhabited outpost.

It is a powerful reminder of what true remoteness looks like, where expedition sailing enters the same psychological territory as spaceflight: total self-reliance and an environment that offers no margin for failure.

During her first ever solo sail, Mara crossed the Atlantic alone, navigating the physical demands, mental discipline, and long periods of isolation that define life offshore.

That passage has now secured her qualification for the Golden Globe Race, making her the only female sailor currently qualified for the next edition of the race.

A significant achievement in its own right, and a defining first chapter in what comes next.

One of the toughest moments came on a night when the wind disappeared but the swell continued to run, leaving her hand-steering for hours through darkness and exhaustion.

“Sitting there in the dark, steering for hours while exhausted was definitely one of the tougher moments of the crossing.” – Mara

Sailing through Mediterranean waters with chef and sailor Gill Meller, whose cooking is shaped by the land and sea around him.

Wild rosemary gathered ashore, fresh fish, and vegetables from the local market, prepared in the galley and served on the shoreline as the light fades over the water.

Early season in the Mediterranean.

Soft harbour light, a swim at anchor, and food by the sea as the sun drops behind the headland.

01/04/2026

Tomorrow, the season begins.
