Having hit his stride in the fashion realm over the last few years, Malaysian-born Patric Seng is truly making a name in art and photography, something that’s been brewing since his youth.
“I had a strong passion for arts since I was a young child,” says Patric whose first major fashion project was the creation of a magazine called Rice as his final project when studying computer graphic design i
n 2007. “It featured my top-to-toe work from designing the magazine, photographing models, interviewing people and I put up the magazine together with quality printed paper and special die-cut effect.”
After graduating he moved to Auckland, which has been home ever since, and although a good deal of his time here has been spent working in hospitality, his path has to some degree always involved photography. This included a long-running stint as official photographer for the Auckland arts event 'First Thursdays' from 2009 till 2011 working alongside the K' Road Business Association. This led to his first big fashion shoot in 2012 with singer Erakah while working with high-profile makeup artist Renata and fashion stylist Sammy Salsa, a rewarding challenge and turning point in his drive make a name in the biz. “Of course I worked very hard from location to location, then I also spent some serious time retouching the photos. I thought I did a great job there and since then I just keep boxing on for other beauty and fashion photo shoots.”
Along his string on sterling work, he’s paired up with an array of major fashion labels such as Australian brand Charlie Brown, Lola Vs Harper, Ciel PR (spotlighted earlier in this issue), Andrea Biani and Mi Piaci to name a few. He was official Mr World New Zealand 2012 (presented by Tanya Entertainment); his images have been proudly featured in express and most recently his work has been published in Remix Magazine in partnership with his trusted long-term partner Face Me Make-Up. But Patric’s philosophy has remained the same from day one – that nothing is impossible. “I believe in the quality of my work and I am a very confident individual. For future projects, I would prefer to always add a bit more edge to my work. Not only create beautifully crafted work, but something very unique, which will bring a little impact and inspiration to my audiences.”
