In 2009 she went on to win Best Emerging Designer with her collection at Miromoda Fashion Awards, followed closely by a showing at Air New Zealand Fashion Week (New Zealand Fashion Week). After a successful showing the label Kiri Nathan became a registered business. The label launched the first ready to wear collection in 2011, followed by several high profile shows during rugby world cup (televised live). Kiri’s then went on to meet and collaborated on a label with Annah Stretton. Kiri designed gowns under the label ‘Kiri Nathan for Annah Stretton’ , these gowns are being sold through Annah’s 33 store both here in New Zealand and in Australia. Launches were held across the country including the Brittish High Commissioners home in Wellington and the Ernst and Young building in Auckland to a target market of global women. After a suuceesful presentation of her own label in October 2012 at Pah Homestead, the British High commissioner to Nz Her Excellency Vicki Treadell announced the British council’s support of the label and sent Kiri as the first Nz representative to showcase at London Fashion week 2013. This collection was then sold in Annah Stretton stores. Kiri became the official sponsor of the ‘Sir Michael Hill Violin Competition’ in 2013. One of the fifth largest of its kind in the world…she also dressed Lady Christine Hill for the awards evening. Kiri was privileged enough to create, meet and present a contemporary korowai to Beyonce on her tour of New Zealand in 2013. Jason Nathan also created Pounamu for Beyonce and her daughter Blue Ivy…

Jason has also made Pounamu for WILL I AM and Stan Walker. Kiri’s latest venture is a high end corporate collection. This collection will be available in selected Annah Stretton stores and online at www.kirinathan.com. Kiri Nathan’s first capsule will opened in April based in Christchurch with more opening throughout New Zealand. The label dresses the likes of Miriama Kamo, Maria Tutaia, Maisey Rika, Stacey Morrison and many other high profile New Zealanders.

“It is my intention to respectfully draw inspiration from my ancestors and their timeless lessons, then transition these beautiful crafts into a present form. I pay particular attention to detailing through hand applique and beading I then blend it with traditional raranga (weaving) in contemporary mediums, particularly Korowai and Kakahu (Maori cloak).I believe in clean cuts, creative and innovative pattern drafting and maximising the versatility of my fabrics” “The label is a raw and truthful expression of everything I believe in” – Kiri Nathan
