There were days I cried wondering if I was enough.
Days where I questioned my purpose, my talent and my path.
Today I am reminded that I was never behind. I was becoming.
I am a mother.
I am Māori.
I am a designer.
I am resilient.
NIQ Atelier was built from late nights, sacrifice, whakapapa and love.
This moment is not the destination—it's simply proof that I kept going.
To my babies, thank you for sharing your mum with her dreams. Every stitch I sew carries a piece of you.
And to the little girl inside of me that almost gave up you made it here.
The future isn't waiting for me anymore.
The future takes the runway.

Kia ora whānau,
My name is Niquita Samuel and I am the founder and designer behind NIQ Atelier.
I am a proud Māori fashion designer based in Auckland with a passion for transforming recycled and reclaimed materials into luxury wearable art and swimwear.
NIQ Atelier was born from my love of storytelling through fashion. I specialise in creating couture garments, luxury swimwear, accessories and wearable art pieces that celebrate creativity, culture and sustainability.
I am currently preparing my latest collection for New Zealand Fashion Week and am excited to continue growing my business alongside my community.
Every piece is thoughtfully designed and handmade with love, incorporating recycled textiles, laser-cut elements and contemporary design techniques.

🖤 CALLING FOR OLD DENIM & LEATHER 🖤

Kia ora whānau, friends, and community.

As many of you know, I have been selected to showcase my collection at New Zealand Fashion Week with NIQ Atelier. ✨

This year I'm creating a collection inspired by reclaimed materials.

Before I buy anything new, I want to honour sustainability and work with what already exists.

I'm looking for donations of:

👖 Old denim jeans
🧥 Denim jackets
🖤 Black leather jackets
👚 Unwanted clothing and textiles
👜 Old bags with interesting textures or hardware
🧵 Rope, cords, trims, and fabric offcuts

Torn, stained, worn out, or out of fashion is absolutely fine. Sometimes those pieces become the most beautiful parts of a garment.

Every donated item will help keep textiles out of landfill and support the creation of a runway collection representing Māori design, storytelling, and sustainable fashion at NZFW.

If you have anything sitting in a wardrobe, garage, or storage box that you no longer need, please send me a message.

FRONTIER WHENUA 🌿 BLOODLINE
This year, I have the honour of showcasing NIQ Atelier at New Zealand Fashion Week on August 21st.
What started as a dream has slowly become reality through years of study, sacrifice, motherhood, creativity, and reconnecting with my whakapapa.
Frontier Whenua is a collection inspired by legacy, whenua, resilience, and the stories we carry through generations. Through reclaimed materials this collection explores where we've come from and where we're going.
Alongside preparing for NZFW, I'll also be part of upcoming Matariki exhibitions, continue my business studies, and share parts of my journey through a documentary currently in the process of being filmed.
This is more than fashion.
This is NIQ Atelier.
This is whakapapa.
This is the beginning.
