Kia Ora, Hidden Perspectives Members.

I hope you are all faring well during lockdown. :) To prepare Rainbow Arts, Hidden Perspectives' Annual General Meeting, I have prepared this application form to ascertain participatory interest in RAHP Executive and General Membership. I will likely contact candidates interested in Executive positions in the second week of mid semester break. I dislike the verb, "vetting", because all expressions of interests are valuable to RAHP. The main purpose of this process is just to determine Executive and Presidential suitability. Of course, all are welcome to run for election at the AGM, this form is just helpful to Caroline and myself for formal club purposes. (funding, and recognition etc). The AGM's date has yet to be decided, but will likely occur in the first two weeks after mid semester break on zoom.

If you are interested, please fill out the form below or contact me via FB messenger. Shares are appreciated as it will help RAHP gain more traction.

Best Wishes

Theo van de Klundert

Kia Ora, Hidden Perspectives Members and Extended Whanau,

I hope you are all faring well in light of the recently called Level 4 lockdown. Lockdown can be a particularly trialing time for our community members and their mental heaths. It is easy to underestimate the effect that being isolated in a small space may have on the mind and body.

You may be aware from University sources, but if you are struggling with your mental health then University Health and Counselling Services offer six free annual counselling sessions. Alternatively, there is also the 1737 number you can text where a counsellor will respond to you if you text, "need to talk". Additionally you can call 0800 173 7173 if you need to access the 1737 calling service. 1737 is a twenty four hour operating service.

From the Hidden Perspectives Team, (currently Caroline and I ;)) we wish you all the best during this challenging time. If you require anything please do not hesitate to contact on the RP page, or Facebook.

With love,

Theo (they/them)

Hey Hidden Perspective Members and extended whanau,

I hope you are all enjoying your second semester and aren’t too snowed under with work. My name is Theo (they/them), I’m second year BA/LLB student and proud Hidden Perspectives Member since the start of 2021. In light of Caroline Blyth’s departure announcement and that of other organizing members Hidden Perspectives will require new leadership. The club’s original vision was to have a student led approach to bringing arts out of the closet, a process Hidden Perspectives hopes to continue in 2022 and beyond.

After a series of discussions with Caroline, and to prepare for Hidden Perspectives’ transition to student leadership, it has been agreed that the club requires a more formal structure for better funding, recognition and networking purposes. This will entail drafting a club constitution to solidify our club’s purpose and create a student led executive committee (President, Secretary, and Treasurer soughta positions) that will take over the club’s administration and finances. Hidden Perspectives will also expand its name to, “Rainbow Arts, Hidden Perspectives”, to make the club more accessible and identifiable to q***r students.

While we are working on drafting a constitution, Caroline has appointed me as Acting Rainbow Arts President until student elections can be held. I plan on calling an AGM after mid semester break in mid-September to properly elected a President and Executive Commitee. The specific date had yet to be announced. Rainbow Arts will still operate in a fairly relaxed manner. You are more than welcome to contact me or Caroline for more information or if you are interested in applying for an Executive position. Keep your eyes peeled for further announcements. 😊

Nga Mihi,
Theo van de Klundert

Kia ora folks,
I'm posting a message from Lauren Black who is researching q***r student experiences of health education and is looking for participants. Details below!

Kia ora,
I am a Master of Education student currently seeking participants for my research into q***r student experiences of health education.
I am specifically looking for young people aged 16-19 (high school or undergraduate) who identify as q***r/LGBT/ takatāpui - ideally undergraduate students. The research would involve one 90-minute individual interview discussing health and sexuality education, identity and q***r visibility in education.
Thank you for your time! Please let me know if you have any questions or would like any further information.
Nga mihi,
Lauren

Kia ora HP peeps, next week we have two exciting events taking place on Wednesday 31 March. Our annual Q***r Quad is on at 12-2pm in the quad space between the Humanities and CLL buildings. Drop by for some home baking and sweet treats. And later that day, at 4pm, our first HP movie screening of the year is taking place - we'll be showing the wonderful movie 'Pride' in room 203 of the Humanities building (206-203). Both events are free and open to everyone. We hope to see you there!
