From an online top to a bespoke one-piece gown 🤍

For this bride, we created a custom skirt with soft front cowl detailing, a beautiful train, and carefully considered construction so the finish looked seamless from the front.

During the process, she decided she wanted the look to become one piece rather than two separate pieces, so we attached the skirt to the bodice through the side seams and back.

We also added eyelash lace trim to the neckline and created a custom lace veil using the same trim, which tied the whole look together so beautifully 💞

What started as a simple online top became something completely personal, elegant, and bespoke to her.

Our bride pulled this look off so effortlessly 😍

From an online top to the beginning of a custom bridal gown 🤍

Our bride came to us wanting a custom skirt made to pair with the top she had purchased online. She loved a skirt we had previously created for another bespoke bride, and luckily, I still had the mock-up of that design.

Being able to try the mock-up with her top gave us such a clear visual of the overall shape, direction, and what the final gown could become.
This was the first fitting of her custom skirt, and the beginning of transforming her two-piece into a beautiful one-piece gown 😍

Brides, if something is bothering you about your dress before the wedding, don’t ignore it. You’ll probably notice it in photos 😔

This gown was custom-made for our bride, but when it arrived there were two issues: the waist needed to be cinched in more, and the boning at the corset edge was creating a visible bump from the side.

With her wedding only days away, we reshaped the corset so it could sn**ch her waist beautifully without distorting the bodice, and shortened the boning to remove the bump completely.

It may sound subtle, but these are the details you notice in photos, especially from the side profile.

So if there is something bothering you about your dress, even if it feels small, it is always worth asking your seamstress what can be done.

Our bride’s relief at pick-up said everything 😌🫶🏼

Crepe wedding dresses may look simple, but they show everything 👀

With this gown, the fabric was stretched too tightly around the thighs and higher abdomen, which caused pulling, creasing, and stress through areas that should have been sitting smooth.

Letting out only the thigh area wouldn’t have fixed the full issue. The higher abdomen also needed to be adjusted so the fabric could relax properly and the back bodice could sit back into place instead of pulling towards the sides.

That’s the thing with crepe. Every tiny adjustment matters because every pull, crease, and seam line is visible.

When it’s fitted correctly, the simplicity of the gown is what makes it so beautiful 🤍

Sometimes the fabric you need to save the fit is already hiding somewhere in the dress 🤍

Our beautiful bride purchased our one and only Kya gown for her Fiji wedding, but the back was sitting slightly too tight and there wasn’t enough seam allowance to let it out fully.

Because the fabric was so unique, we couldn’t simply source a matching piece locally. So we used the detachable off-shoulder straps she wasn’t wearing to create panels for the back.

Those straps gave us just enough original fabric to close the gown, blend the panel in beautifully, and keep the finish looking seamless.

We also hemmed the front lace so she could walk comfortably, because no matter how stunning a dress is, you still need to be able to move in it.

A thoughtful alteration, a clever fabric solution, and a gown ready for her Fiji wedding ✨

If the bodice fits everywhere except the bust, this might be why 🤍

We’re seeing this more and more with bridal gowns lately. The waist fits, the back closes, the bodice feels secure, but the bust area sits away from the bride’s actual shape.

A lot of the time, it’s not because the dress is too big everywhere. It can simply be that the cup depth is too deep, which makes the bust area look fuller or more projected than the bride feels comfortable with.

And yes, this can be fixed.

For this gown, we removed the cups first so we could see the true shape of the bodice, then altered the bust seam and adjusted the front detail so everything sat closer and more naturally on our bride.

It’s such a common fitting concern, and sometimes the smallest-looking issue actually needs a very technical alteration behind the scenes.

If your dress fits beautifully everywhere else but the bust just doesn’t feel right, bring it in and let us have a look. There’s usually more that can be done than you might think 😌

Bustles can be expensive, especially when they have more than 5 pick-up points.

A custom bustle needs to be planned around the gown’s fabric, weight, train shape, layers, and how the bride needs to move after the ceremony.

It has to lift the train securely, sit beautifully from the outside, and still feel comfortable enough for the bride to walk, dance, and enjoy the rest of her day.

Some trains only need 1 to 2 points, while others need 9 to 16 points to support the fabric properly. That is where the time, precision, and cost come in.

So when you receive a bustle quote, you are not just paying for ribbons, hooks, or buttons. You are paying for the planning, structure, support, and finish that allows your gown to function beautifully after the ceremony 🤍
