Darning on a client's beautiful wool jumper.

Took a couple goes to get right but both he and I are happy with the result! So nice and soft and a subtle yet strong repair adding years to this garment's longevity.

A special project for a beautiful friend!

These were two of Gemma's mum's favourite dresses and she asked me to turn them into cushion covers to remind her of her mum.

The fabric was quite delicate for cushions so I applied it onto some old cushion covers she had that had seen better days. I'm so happy she loves how they turned out! We have some fabric leftover for two little tops and some scrunchies as well.

Zip replacement on a fave pair of Levi's

Often I try to figure out the simplest way of repairing something - making it cheaper for the garment's owner but probably not the best business strategy for me! This can mean just replacing a zip slider if it's fallen off or loosening w a pair of pliers or the tines of a fork if stuck! Unfortunately the teeth on the zipper tape were broken here so needed to replace the whole zip. I ordered a qual YKK denim zip online, unpicked the old zip and waistband, added in the new zip and sewed it all back up. So satisfying making these loved jeans functional for years to come.

Redid the welt pockets on Gina's beautiful wool coat. The previous mends were a bit dubious and had started coming apart. Now the pockets have a double layer of cotton lining and are finished w bias binding. Was a bit of a learning curve but v happy with how they turned out!

Elbow patches for Tim

Merino jersey + elbow hole calls for a practical and stylish repair!

Homemade patches w fabric options from me and selected by the client. Trial and error w finishing of the patch edges as fraaay town then interfaced for strength, durability and to reduce fraying. Handstitched down for the lewk and cause awkward to get the machine in there. 10/10 would repair again.

A few recent hems completed by me
1. Handstitched blind hem with overlocked edge on tailored work pants
2. Simple rolled hem with contrast denim thread on some jeans
3. Jeans shortened and original distressed hem kept. Added top stitching to keep the seam allowance out of the way.
