Let's talk layering.

So often our ladies might comment "this would be great for summer" and I confess...I immediately think "wait, how could we work this garment for multiple seasons and increase dollar for wear".

The dress below is a gorgeous Max viscose dress ❀️ Light, floaty and dreamy in summer 🌞

But to wear it year round LAYER!
Bottom half -tights and boots....and on the top half 'Yes' to layering UNDER. Try a merino long sleeve, but also lace or mesh for a bit of youthful edge. Consider turning backwards items in your exisitng wardrobe such as light weight cardigans to layer under as wel.

Scarves you can remove when warm...then add a vest and this is a year round dress ladies!

Dressing the manaquins for this autumn weather. Wanted to showcase what was picked and why!

Maxi skirts...still have that breezy vibe with a bit more coverage for cooler mornings...also great to pair with stockings and/or boots. Shirts with roll up sleeve ties, also great for layering or wearing as a light weight jacket (shacket) as the day warms up. Leather jackets and coats...offer some warmth with out being overbearing.

Linen and light natural fabrics are breathable and remain a favourite with our gorgeous ladies. Also threw in a Marc Jacobs faux fur vest for flair and texture...and because WHY NOT! πŸ« πŸ˜‰.

We are doing our part by extending the life and wear of beautiful pre-loved garments here at Top Shelf Designer Recycle...but this is an absolute win for the planet. Nice work Europe.

Globally 1 Olympic sized swimming pool.of fashion industry waste goes to landfill EVERY second.

Fast fashion has a dirty secret: what happens to the clothes nobody buys?

For decades, the industry standard has been to destroy billions of dollars' worth of unsold inventory to protect brand value. But the European Union has banned this practice completely.

The EU Council formally adopted the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, a sweeping new law that targets the take, make, and dispose model of the textile industry. The most significant part of this legislation is a direct ban on the destruction of unsold apparel, clothing accessories, and footwear.

Under these rules, large companies have a transition period of two years to comply, while medium-sized enterprises have six years. The goal is to force major brands to stop overproducing and start designing products that last longer and are easier to recycle.

The environmental cost of the current system is staggering. In the EU alone, approximately 12.8 billion pounds (5.8 million tonnes) of textiles are discarded every year. That averages out to about 26 pounds (12 kg) of waste per person annually. By banning the destruction of usable goods, the EU aims to cut this waste drastically.

The law also introduces a Digital Product Passport. This scannable tag will give consumers instant access to information about a product's sustainability.

Companies will also be required to report annually on how much unsold inventory they still discard and why, exposing the scale of waste hidden for years.
While this regulation only applies to the EU market, its impact will be global. International brands will have to adjust their supply chains to comply.

We have treated clothing as disposable for too long. This law reminds us that every garment has an environmental price tag, and destroying it just because it didn't sell is a cost the planet can no longer afford.
