For some time I've wanted to make a post about where my journey with Saori weaving all began, so here it is at last!

In June 2019 I was oh so very lucky to register for the last available spot on a 5 day weaving workshop (titled "Weaving Without Boundaries") at the Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts (MISSA). This was hosted by Pearson College, Metchosin, Vancouver Island and ably presented by Terri Bibby from Saori Salt Spring with assistance from Laura Roveda from Saori Studio LA- Weaving from the Heart. Lynn Jones also popped in a few times to share her clothing magic with us.

I made this collage from photos of the work produced by the participants, it's a real tribute to each one's unique creativity as it occurred. I'm sharing this now as a tribute to the privilege of learning from these 3 wonderful ladies, with heartfelt thanks to all of them for sharing their amazing talent, creativity, skill and knowledge with us all with immense generosity of spirit. Thank you so much, it was one of the best experiences ever!

And so another Mahia spinning retreat has ended. It was a wonderful weekend of catching up with friends, making new ones, learning new skills, lots of laughter and delightful food. And there was beautiful fibre and wool for sale too. Thank you to the Mahia Spinners for all your hard work in hosting this lovely weekend retreat. ❤️
