Geoff Polly Polglase, born in Nelson hospital many years ago. Returned last year.

In my early years in the Air Force my first trade was called Safety and Surface- safety equipment maintenance and aircraft painting.

We were taught to complete sewing repairs on parachutes, liferafts and flying clothing.

Fast forward 35 years and I’m back into textiles again.
Polly is a nickname that stuck after 25 years in the military.

My final trade in the Air Force was Helicopter Crewman, something I also still do with Westpac Rescue in Auckland as a commuting casual!

Awesome to be home in Nelson, living in Richmond with the lovely partner Rachel. She’s the boss!

Some of my sewing work is from my casual role working with the Westpac Rescue helicopter. This bag needed minor adjustment to make it fit on our modern AW169 helicopter stretcher bridge. It attaches to the monitor and holds the leads, blood pressure cuffs etc.
Had to do an external stitch line due to the plastic reinforcing in the sides. Not very bendy!
