Cirkel Life has been a bit quiet of late as I’ve veered off course a smidge and have been studying for a Masters of Design focussing on sustainability. It’s because of brands like the above and the waste problem shown at the end of this Doco that inspired me to start Cirkel Life, but in my ‘journey’ (not a fan of that term but it fits) I’ve realised what I was doing wasn’t enough so I’m looking further for solutions. Still very happy to make custom ordered garments from waste and have some left over stock to sell, but I think the new Cirkel Life may have a different focus after my studies! Watch this space, reach out if you’d still like any of the garments featured previously and I’ll keep posting some snippets of life as a masters student ! ♻️

And all finished, as I sew I sometimes end up naming these jackets, this one is Peppermint Twist. The story behind her is my friend’s dad passed away suddenly and she had two shirts of his that she wanted to use but they were too big and she didn’t know what to do with them. They looked so lovely with this blanket we decided a jacket with the shirts as lining would give her a wee hug every time she put it on.

A new duffle coat underway, this blanket is stained so I’m cutting around that and making it new again. A really special story behind this one I hope to share with permission from my lovely customer soon

First day of Spring! Time to go through those wardrobes and see what still fits, can be passed on to a sibling or repaired/reused and then what needs replacing! Don’t forget we take back loved Cirkel Life clothes for a 15 % discount on new and offer free repairs!

We’ve been a bit quiet on the socials lately but we’re still here! Not everything we make is created from deconstructed materials, sometimes it’s just a case of some adjusted seams and a repair or two. These pants seem to be from the 60’s or 70’s and now have a new life! Check out the label 😃 Don’t forget we repair or alter all our garments for free to keep them going for as long as they can. We’ve decided to offer an upcycling and repair service for other clothes too. DM for a quote as much as we LOVE to create new we also LOVE to save what’s already out there 😃

Designed and made in New Zealand our goal is to one day be a 100% sustainable closed loop brand. All our clothing has been made with love and care using off cuts, recycled, reclaimed and left over natural fabrics to fashion them into cool new threads for our kids.

DID YOU KNOW the NZ Fashion and Textile industry added 7.8 billion dollars to the economy in 2023, that’s a 1.9% contribution to our GDP!! That’s more than the supermarket and boutique food industry! Today I was workspace to listen to Jacinta and Juliette from and Pip from EY discuss the results of their industry-wide collaboration looking into the fashion industry in New Zealand, where it’s at now, where it’s heading and how we can ensure a thriving Fashion and Textile community within our country. Such an awesome initiative can’t wait to delve further into the results.
