How about some vintage paint-by-numbers, all framed up and ready to hang.

Most likely dating back to the 1960s or 1970s, when paint-by-numbers kits were hugely popular with both kids and adults. They were a great way to create your own artwork, and plenty of these proudly ended up on lounge and hallway walls around New Zealand.

These three have survived the years well and are still sitting in their original vintage frames, which really add to the charm and give a good indication of their age.

We have a pair of horses and two lovely swan scenes available. Whether you're after some retro décor, a bit of nostalgia, or just something a little different for the wall, these are certainly conversation pieces.

Pop in and have a look if they catch your eye.

I'm not a big drinker, but why wouldn't you want this in your lounge? Only thing is we haven’t even got one in the shop for you guys.

But imagine making the decision whether it's for actually pouring a drink or just as a talking point, pieces like this have a way of stealing the spotlight. It certainly beats staring at a blank corner of the room!

Vintage, quirky, and guaranteed to get visitors asking, "Where did you find that?"

Picked up some cool little toy bits and pieces yesterday while out on the hunt.

First up are a couple of vintage Noddy & Big Ears ball-bearing games. These simple little toys have kept generations of kids entertained and the artwork is still as bright and cheerful as ever.

There’s also a rather neat Kelley & Hueber child's glasses case featuring a lenticular race car image. Tilt it one way and the picture changes – always a bit of magic for kids and still a clever piece of design today.

Rounding things out are a couple of vintage Māori dolls. These have definitely been well loved over the years, showing the sort of wear you'd expect from toys that were actually played with rather than tucked away on a shelf. They still have plenty of character and make great display pieces or additions to a vintage toy collection.

All are in used condition, but good overall for their age and exactly the sort of interesting bits and pieces that make vintage hunting so much fun.

The wall was looking a bit empty, so I thought it was time to get these couple of nicely shaped mirrors hung up.

The smaller octagonal mirror measures 45cm across, while the larger decagonal mirror is 60cm across.

Both are in used condition, but are in good overall shape for their age. If you're looking for a bit of a statement piece for a bedroom, hallway, bathroom, or anywhere that needs a little extra character, one of these could be just what you're after.

Mirrors are a great way to add light and make a space feel larger, and these geometric shapes give them a bit more personality than your standard wall mirror.

The smaller mirror is $50, and the larger one is $75. Pop into the shop and have a look for yourself. 🪞✨

Got all the pieces out that I've been sorting and pricing over the week, plus a few extra bits that found their way onto the shelves.

Yesterday turned into one of those days where the jobs list didn't quite go to plan. We had plenty of customers through the door, and as always a good yarn can take up a fair chunk of the day. Not that we're complaining – that's one of the best parts of running the shop!

Today it's back to the usual Saturday routine and out on the hunt for fresh stock. You never quite know what you'll find, and that's half the fun. Every trip has the potential to uncover something unusual, quirky, or just plain interesting.

A few of the pieces that made it out yesterday are pictured below. There's a couple of nice silver-plated items, an elegant coloured glass vase, and a tiny sewing kit complete with its little thread and needle holder tucked away inside. Small pieces like these are easy to overlook, but they're often the items that catch someone's eye and end up going home with them.

Pop in and have a browse if you're out and about this weekend. You never know what treasure might be waiting for you.

Have got the AC going in the shop to keep things nice and warm, making it the perfect excuse to get out and have a browse.

We've been busy getting more stock out onto the shelves, and every corner seems to have something different at the moment. From colourful vintage glassware and kitchenalia to collectables, retro advertising, ceramics and those quirky pieces you didn't know you were looking for, there's plenty to catch your eye.

One of the things we love most is that the shop is always changing. A piece can arrive in the morning and be gone by the afternoon, so every visit is a little different. Looking around there's a real mix of treasures on display, with shelves packed full of interesting finds from top to bottom.

So why not pop in and see us? Have a wander, stay warm, and see what catches your eye. You never know what treasure you might find waiting on the shelf. ✨

That time of the week once more — time to switch on the front window lights.

We have these running on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights so the front of the shop is nicely lit up and everything in the window can be seen a bit better.

They're especially noticeable at this time of year, and we often see people stopping to have a look through the window when we're passing by.

There's a real mix of treasures in there at the moment too. It's probably getting close to time for another window change-up, but that's always a big job, so we'll see how we go! 😄

A bit of a mixed bag making its way through the stock system at the moment.

Just a small selection of what we've been working on this week — a pair of lovely Temuka Riverstone salt and pepper shakers, a 1976 Jamboree ashtray, a Crown Lynn retro floral dish, some colourful vintage cordial glasses, a couple of cute deer figurines and an interesting salt container maybe?

Anyway these are only a handful of the pieces waiting to hit the shelves. We've still got plenty more to sort, photograph, and price up, so keep an eye on the page over the weekend as more treasures make their way out into the shop.

You never know what might turn up next!

Picked this set up today and as soon as I saw it, I thought, "Wow, that's funky!"

It's a Holkham Pottery coffee set consisting of four cups, a milk jug, and a sugar bowl. The shape and styling immediately caught my eye, and there was a good reason for that — they were looking right back at me.

This design is known as "Owl Eyes", and once you see it, you can't unsee it. The large circular openings form the owl's eyes, creating a clever and distinctive mid-century look that really stands out from the crowd.

A very smart bit of design work, and one of those sets that looks just as good on display as it does in use.

Thought I better start getting a few things finished off, so I started with this step stool.

This one's wearing one of our newer upholstery patterns and I reckon it suits it perfectly. A nice mix of colour without being over the top.

The chrome has been polished up, the rubber treads given a thorough clean (including removing the old paint splatters), and as always it's finished off with a fresh set of foot caps.

I've got a couple more stools waiting their turn, so hopefully they'll be out on the shop floor soon. After that, it's on to a few other projects that have been sitting in the queue.
